Bee Swarm Takes Over Mailbox at Mulberry and Grand Streets

Today in things that are terrifying, here is a photo taken by @cookielaz, or Kyle Lazarus, who mentions (sarcastically) that this bee-covered mailbox in New York City is "totally safe." DNA Info has more on the swarm, which led the NYPD to close down the sidewalk for several hours today until the bees could be removed. No one has been reported injured. Swarming bees, however, are a "common phenomenon this time of year." Be forewarned while standing in Little Italy and taking photos of bee swarms.

A swarm is, in fact, quite safe.  The bees have no hive to defend, and they are very docile.
