Derrick Praileau: What Happened to Right-Wing Anti-Arab Theory That Dubai Royals Ordered Him to Kill Andree Bejjani?
Now that Derrick Praileau, the 31-year-old veteran housekeeping manager at the upscale Jumeirah Essex House, has finally admitted in court that he strangled financial bigwig and hotel guest Andree "Sara" Bejjani in September 2009, what has happened to the cockamamie theory raised at the time by right-wing Muslim hater Debbie Schlussel that the Dubai royal family ordered it done?
If you thought that conspiracy theory would have evaporated by now, you'd be mistaken. Other than porn, nothing lives longer on the web than bullshit. Or was it bullshit?
Okay, it probably was bullshit, despite the fact that Bejjani was no ordinary hotel guest. Lebanese-born and apparently a financial brainiac, she was a key adviser to the Dubai royalty on their worldwide real-estate investments — which include the tony Essex House on Central Park South.
But Schlussel, a fanatical right-wing Zionist, mainly uses her own oft-expressed contempt for Muslims to justify her theory:
The economy is bad, and a woman is disposable, especially a woman whose advice might not have helped any of her wealthy clients in this bad economy. Especially a woman who has been photographed in "immodest" spaghetti strap gowns. She probably "deserved to die" in their eyes. And I don't think it's just a "coincidence" that she was easily murdered in the Essex House that happens to be owned by the same country where many of her clients were apparently based.
Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, now the ruler of Dubai, owns the hotel and has since 2005. Don't think for a second that he wouldn't help out a friend who wanted to murder that "kalbeh" (bitch/female dog) that lost the friend's money or wouldn't sleep with him. Don't forget how his fellow UAE prince, Sheikh Issa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (brother of the UAE's Crown Prince), brutally tortured a farmer he claimed ripped him off of $5,000 in grain, and videotaped it to watch it with friends.
Well, you can't underestimate the greed of Dubai's royalty, that's true. On the other hand, Schlussel sneered at CBS reporter Lara Logan when Logan was brutalized in a heavily sexual way by a Cairo mob this past February.
As the Daily Mail (U.K.) noted after the Cairo attack:
Debbie Schlussel posted a picture of Miss Logan on her blog, under the headline: 'Islam Fan Lara Logan Gets a Taste of Islam', before adding 'How fitting that Lara Logan was "liberated" by Muslims in Liberation Square while she was gushing over the other part of the "liberation".'
See Loonwatch's jibe at Schlussel last February, and Schlussel's own screed on what she calls "a taste of Islam for Islamo-pandering reporters in Egypt."
As for Schlussel's conspiracy theory regarding Praileau's murder of Bejjani, it refuses to die, thanks to experts123.com, which bills itself as "the question and answer encyclopedia," and which poses this question — Did Dubai Royalty Get Derrick Praileau to Murder Sara Bejjani? — and does nothing but quote Schlussel's screed.
Meanwhile, not a peep from Schlussel so far after Praileau admitted in court yesterday that he tried to rape Bejjani before strangling her because he was drunk and crazed and that he had stalked the building for a victim and she just happened to be it.
And don't expect Schlussel to weigh in on the side of the alleged victim in the more celebrated Dominique Strauss-Kahn case. After all, the hotel maid is Muslim. Although, it's possible that Schlussel will take the Ann Coulter angle of joking about Jews, Muslims, and (alleged) rape
