NYC Elevator Plummets, Validating Fears
A New York City elevator dropped three stories on Wednesday morning in a Flatiron District building, thereby justifying the fears of generations who have been told that a fast-moving, close-quartered metal box on wires is somehow totally safe. The malfunction occurred around 7 a.m. at 620 Sixth Avenue (note to self), injuring 15 people, all at work bright and early and yet punished by the universe regardless. The FDNY says the injuries were minor and could not yet determine why the elevator fell, though we imagine something gremlin-like in the shaft with wire cutters, cackling. [NBC NY]
