Representative Peter King says Rudy Giuliani is "very close to saying he's going to run" for president in 2012, Politico reports. "If he were to make the decision today, he would run," King said at a dinner on Monday. Meanwhile, Keiko Fujimori, the leading presidential candidate in Peru, has hired the ex-NYC mayor as an adviser in order to "bolster her law-and-order credentials," Reuters reports. Fujimori needs the help because her father, Alberto Fujimori, Peru's former president, is in jail for human rights violations and corruption. The younger Fujimori is using Giuliani's image as a crime-stopping terrorist-hater: "He has a great record of fighting delinquency, so I think his presence here is helpful to strengthen our proposals," she said. But Peru has a drug-trafficking problem that makes old Times Square look like new Park Slope. And yet, Giuliani could sooner be a South American dictator than president of the U.S.; it might suit him better anyway. [Politico, Reuters]
