Beryl Duncan, Brooklyn Woman, Steals NYPD License Plate, Stuffs It in Pants

nypd_car_flickr.jpg
For reasons that we don't fully or even partially understand -- revenge? Desire? Random vandalism? Craziness? -- a 53-year-old woman named Beryl Duncan stole the license plate off a 2009 Chevy Impala belonging to the NYPD, which was parked near Prospect Park, yesterday. She hid it in her pants. Reasonable! Also: those pants must have had some give. When busted by a witness and confronted by NYPD Officer Luis Vega, she claimed that the plate had fallen off and she was "holding it for the cop." She has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny, reports the New York Post. No word on the status of the license. [NYP]
