Ex-Scientology Actor Attacks Ex-Scientology Plaintiff in TMZ Story Clearly Not Planted by Scientology

After spending more than a week frozen in a mixture of glycol and alcohol, this thetan is ready to re-enter the volcano! We're going to pierce the WALL OF FIRE! (Um, actually, it was a case of walking pneumonia, but whatever. It's good to be back to work.)

And what a day to come back to. First, we will deal with the bizarro story that is so incomplete on facts, we expect it nearly to turn around 180 degrees once some additional details leak out.

TMZ is reporting that actor Jason Beghe, a man we have written about extensively here before, is being "criminally investigated" for attacking a guy named Daniel Montalvo who was cutting weeds on his Malibu property.

According to the incident report, Daniel Montalvo was using a weed wacker on Beghe's Malibu property last week when the device malfunctioned. Cops tell us ... a frustrated Montalvo "mistreated the device." That pissed off Beghe, who then got into a loud confrontation with Montalvo which became physical.

TMZ has nothing else about what happened or any larger context. We're left with the impression that Beghe is some unhinged actor who got pushy with the Mexican help on his ranch or something.

It makes you wonder why TMZ didn't provide a little more background, such as this little nugget: Montalvo has been living under Beghe's protection at the Malibu ranch since Montalvo's dramatic escape and continuous battle with the Church of Scientology.

How do you leave a detail like that out of a story?

Beghe himself, as our readers know well, is himself not only a former Scientologist, but one who made a dramatic exit from the organization, denouncing it as a scam. He estimated that he'd put in about a million dollars over the dozen years he'd been a member.

Montalvo, meanwhile, grew up in Scientology, and as we've reported before, he made his own dramatic escape from the strange group. Since then, under Beghe's protection from the church's process servers and operatives, Montalvo filed a major child-labor practices lawsuit against Scientology with the help of attorney Kit Winter.

We have reached out to Winter for help on the strange TMZ story, which seems to make little sense. Beghe, meanwhile, said he could not comment on the TMZ story at this time.

We also reached Marty Rathbun, who is in Los Angeles for Montalvo's other legal matters. "The church is making some really stupid moves," he said in regard to the TMZ story, but said he couldn't say more.

Our other sources close to the Montalvo legal matter tell us that no, Montalvo has not suddenly turned against Beghe, despite what the TMZ story seems to imply.

It just seems odd that Beghe was happy as could be in Scientology for decades, but then suddenly flips a 180. Did he get into another fight with someone? What's he gonna do now? Give interviews slamming weed-wackers?

Man you anti-scientology guys are desperate...getting your news from TMZ?  Of couse, that's like getting hard biting journalism fron the Village Voice...oh, wait....

A trip to the Beghe/Montalvo estate by Marty &  Mike, for "repair," could have been avoided simply by building an e-meter into the weed-wacker.

With the emeter-wacker, any preclear, clear or post-clear, could do yard work WHILE monitoring stress levels. Comes with a handy bag to deposit body thetans and engrams, which have been known to lurk in tall grasses.

Well, whatever happened, Jason Beghe and Marty Rathbun both have a leniency to get physical and whenever an assault happens, victims will be present. Sad but true.

Thanks Tony, for helping to fill in the blanks. Jason in an incredibly compassionate and generous soul, not many people would stand up for Daniel and take on the cult of scientology the way he has.

TMZ should have put more research and shoe leather into this story, instead of inserting misleading innuendos.

I am disappointed that TMZ did not pick up the much bigger story about one of the most senior scientology executives, Jan Eastgate, being arrested for covering up child sex abuse!

Holy cow, she is the President of the cult's front group, Citizens Commission for Human Rights. It's very serious, she has had her passport taken away, and is due in court in a couple of weeks.

How is it that anything an anti-scientologist does it not true?  Tony, you are really something.  Beghe has a history of assaults (2 to process servers, several to other church members) and now a kid that he took under his care.  What a two-faced bastard.  You, Tony, as obviously biased. Tony,  You need to look into this week's story about the senior scientology leader, Jan Eastgate, arrested in Australia for obstruction of justice trying to protect a pedophile.

I'm also curious why more hasn't been reported on the President of the CCHR's involvement in that case in Australia.  Didn't they take away her US passport?

This does come in handy for the Church of Scientology. It keeps the eyes of the US press averted from the much more damaging story that's playing in Australia now, with an inner circle church member and CCHR Human Rights spokesperson arrested on charges of perverting the course of justice in a child molest case.....By the way Tony, according to Scientology teachings piercing the wall of fire without appropriate (and costly) preparation by CoS-courses might be the cause of your illness. Death from pneumonia is the threat they use to scare their lower echelon members away from investigating the Xenu-story for themselves....

Tony, can't the Malibu Police Station clear this up.  TMZ stated this is where the incident report came from.  TMZ also stated this happened a week ago, so the report should be available to the public by now.

I can't help wondering if this is just one of those Deflect! Deflect! desperate attempts by Scientology's intelligence arm (and what church doesn't have one, as well an army of legal and PI's)  before the Big Story gets over here to the U.S.    what story?

U.S. (and dual Aussie) California resident, Jan Eastgate, International President of CCHR, Citizens Commission on Human Rights (yeah, right), front group for Scientology to eradicate utterly and without sorrow all psychiatrists:  Arrested for Perverting the Course of Justice.   Allegedly covered up pedophile's molestation, coerced the child and her mother (all scientologist) to lie, told the child it was her fault, and that she'd lose both her parents if she told the police. (just google Jan Eastgate) for details.

Jason Beghe may have served on the board of CCHR, but not certain on this.  Jason has stated previously that Sci leader, David Miscavige,  referred to Jason as international Poster Boy of Scientology.  So much for human rights, like other scientology "humanitarians" like Tom Cruise and John Travolta.  See, weedwackers don't look near as wacky now, do they?

I disagree, Tony. I think the story was planted by the cult.  So far there has been no confirmation that there was any kind of incident or that a complaint was filed.

There is no way to tell right now if scientology had anything to do with this episode...except that Beghe being in the cult and Montalvo growing up in the cult (and being abandoned by his parents who tossed him to the Sea Org so they could pursue their own goals unencumbered by a child) has surely damaged both people involved.Very sad and I hope the facts come out.

Who is getting their news from TMZ ? that is where the story originated and other people did exact copies of the TMZ write up which turned out to be nothing ....

PS. what is wrong with being anti corporate scientology, or do you like human rights abuses, fair game, suspect deaths, people locked away, forced abortions, financial fraud ?

You're barking up the wrong tree.  Tony is a good tool: a tool for justice, and has been doing flawless work for years.   Just watch out because I suspect there is Pulitzer Prize potential for him this year!

Tony said he was off sick, I believe, at least give the guy a chance to catch up on the latest news. Tony was reporting on Scientology a long time ago when many people were afraid to, he deserves a certain amount of credit, if anything.

PamEllis
PamEllis

Oh, don't be attacking Tony.  He is not paid by scilon critics.  A story in a U.S. news source will have more resonance with readers when discussing people who might be known to U.S. readers (Beghe) rather than an unknown Australian story of covering up child abuse.

You are drawing conclusions (or attempting to make others draw conclusions) based on minimal details.  We still lack anything resembling a police report.

It's not just the Xenu shit they're hiding. Eventually, the OT levels just become the same drug-addled nonsene repeated over and over again and they don't want you to know that until after you've paid for it.

There is no fair or sensible way you can say that his parents had anything but the highest aspirations for their son. My analysis of the situation is that their son probably wasn't smart enough to be a member.

Wow Tony, of course it HAS to be a lie if it was done by an anti-scientologist.  I am sure Marty would have verified it as a lie if he could, though, don't you think?
