Glenn Beck Gets Cold Shoulder From New Yorkers in Bryant Park

glenn beck.jpg
On Tuesday, American hero Glenn Beck held back tears as he recounted the way that New Yorkers in Bryant Park mistreated him and his family at an outdoor screening of Alfred Hitchcock's 39 Steps the night before. Beck's tears demonstrate the seriousness of the situation -- this is a man who never cries. Apparently, Beck and his family were simply trying to enjoy the film when a pack of ravenous New York liberals descended on them. Beck reported on his radio show that the New Yorkers screamed, "We hate conservatives here," and "We're in New York and we hate Republicans." Later, he reports, someone "accidentally" spilled wine on his wife, Tania.

Beck, never one to blow anything out of proportion, had this to say about the moviegoers:

"If I had suggested -- and I almost did -- wow, does anybody have a rope? Because there's a tree here. You could just lynch me. And I think there would've been a couple in the crowd that would've!"

Fortunately for Beck, even if the crowd had tried to lynch him, his security detail would have had his back. A friend of the wine spiller wrote to New York Magazine arguing that it was in fact Beck's people who made the movie atmosphere unpleasant:

it was his security detail (two body guards) that seemed to be unnecessarily prickly with the crowd, scolding myself and my friends for acrobatics and other harmless activities taking place well before the movie started, and contributing to a considerably less relaxed atmosphere than is typically experienced during BPMN (I've been going for about six years now).

While there is dispute over who made the movie unpleasant, there is one thing that's certain: Glenn Beck definitely isn't using this event to criticize New York days after the state legalized gay marriage.

Just another example of the loving liberals being mean spirited and nasty.

Can we doubt the veracity of Beck’sclaims?  Wouldn’t be the first time.  But can we at leastadmire the sobriety of his rhetoric? Sure.  The man is committed.  He knows his audience, and knows how to pull their strings.

As one conservative blogger put itin his reaction to the tale, Beck’s storytelling will “certainly drum upseveral emotions.”  Even if those emotions include a wry sense ofindignation, mock sympathy, and aversion.

Of course not! If a conservative is attacked by an angry mob then we cheer, right? If only they had thrown rocks at all of them, the kids too. Because who cares? Then in a few months when the next nut job goes crazy & shoots a bunch of people we can sit back & point to the Republicans of the country as the reason. Because they are just so damned mean. I think I just summed up the average liberal mentality on hate & violence.

Beck hates NY so much for all the Elites and liberals that live here, but he lives here and he is enjoying the Elite-ness of watching a Hollywood movie in a public park behind a great public library in the middle of America's largest city..  He clearly enjoys NYC and everything it has to offer including the arts, theater and food. Funny, but all the Fox major celebrities and new people work in NYC and live in and around it.  NONE have been harassed or attacked... you know why?  Because New Yorkers don't attack people on movie night in Bryant Park... they are with friends to watch a movie... notice no tweets or supporting pictures to Glen's story?  Because he is lying.  He is a coward and you guys allow him to divide America.  Shame!

I think Beck is confusing reality with the plot line in 39 steps.

Why does Beck or Oreilly need security ?   Why is there cops at the Fox building 24 hours a day ?  Why , because Liberals are always threatening people and property if you dont agree with their backwards thinking . Libs are just assholes plain and simple

Of course. Glenn Beck isn't mad about his family being unable to go out like a normal one, he's clearly using this as an opportunity to bash New York and it's damn gay marriages. Wow, i wish i was enlightened and post-graduate educated like you.

You know, I don't care who someone is with but I worked with a gay girl who called me a breeder.. mind you I don't have any kids don't want kids and wouldn't have married my husband if he wasn't so determined to be married.  I have found that the liberals I'm around (I work on a college campus) are more hateful than any conservative I've met.  Our boss is a strict Democrat and I've been told to never let her know if you aren't  I mean really?  I tell her all the time.  I'm not ashamed to say who I voted for, it wasn't Obama but there are really people who are afraid of saying things around her.  Here is my stance on gay marriages.  I don't care, I think that the gov't should stay out of it and if two people want that piece of paper give it to them.  If they are talking about church weddings, then it is up to that church and whether they accept it as appropriate.  The bible condemns gay marriage so to push that is stupid and just trying to start crap.  Why would you want married in a church that doesn't accept you?  But I do feel that they should be able to join through the gov't for property and rights.

What a little bitch. I'm sorry, but if you go on national television and show your ass with your your religious and political BS, you are sure to attract negative attention. You bring this on to yourself and your family. We are a country with the freedom to have our own ideas and beliefs and the freedom to express our opinions about others' as well, so bite it and move on, because the pity party is not going to work.
