Malikah Shabazz, Malcom X's Daughter, Pleads Guilty to Identity Theft

Earlier today, Malikah Shabazz, Malcom X's youngest daughter, pleaded guilty to identity theft. Shabazz, 45, stole the identity of a family friend, Khaula Bakr, and accumulated debt of more than $55,000 in her name. Bakr is the 70-year-old widow of one of Malcolm X's bodyguards. Shabazz pleaded guilty in exchange for five years probation, and will have to repay credit companies $55,884.24.

Shabazz was arrested in North Carolina on February 22, after police discovered her in North Carolina while investigating a number of complaints that her 13-year-old daughter was not attending school. Shabazz gave the police a fake name, but her true identity was discovered, and they took her into custody.

According to Huliq, Shabazz has a PhD in Educational Administration & Human Development, is an Honored Fellow in Africana Black Studies, and has an MS in Mathematical Science.

Malcolm was a truly great man. Don't know if the charges against his daughter are true. If they are then she's got some learning to do, just like her dad when he was a hustler. But I'm appalled at the nasty racist comments people are making in response to this story.

Talk about a crime that makes absolutely no sense. A PhD, Honored Fellow and an MS in mathematical science and she can't get a gig making at least that much a year? I don't get it.
