Sarah Palin Gets Goosebumps From Ellis Island, Eats Pizza With Knife and Fork
Last night Sarah Palin met Mr. Donald Trump for dinner at Famous Famiglia's in Times Square, where the two -- horror of horrors -- ate their pepperoni pizza with a knife and fork (a knife and fork!). Today, Palin has continued in her authentic experience of our great city by touring Ellis and Liberty islands with her parents and daughter Piper (and a bevy of park-ranger escorts and policemen). She got to walk inside the Statue, was spontaneously serenaded by a high school band from Illinois, which played the "Star-Spangled Banner," and reportedly, got "goosebumps walking through [Ellis Island]." She also gave high-fives.
Palin's appreciation of the immigrant history of Ellis Island does not transcend to embracing the DREAM Act, however, which would let new immigrants who complete high school and are "found to be of good character," stay in the U.S. Via Politico,
"The immigrants of the past, they had to literally and figuratively stand in line to become U.S. citizens. I'd like to see that continue," Palin said. "And unfortunately, the DREAM Act kind of usurps that -- the system that is a legal system to make sure that immigrants who want to be here legally, working hard, producing and supplying revenue and resources for their families, that they're able to do that right and legally. Unfortunately, the DREAM Act doesn't accomplish that."
While she's not confirming a run for president, she's certainly doing little to deny it, telling the New York Post, "I'm campaigning for our nation's history," and "We just want to see as much of America as possible."
Next stop, per her website: "on to visit colleagues at the FOX studios."After that, she'll head to Boston, and then back to Alaska before relaunching her bus tour on the West Coast, reports ABC News.
This picture of her and her family is an instant classic for the expression on Piper's face. Family vacations stink!
