Sex Assault Suspect Looked Like a 'Hipster,' Had Star Tattoos on Calves, Says NYPD
New information has been released by the NYPD regarding the suspect in a sexual assault that took place on June 12 in Washington Heights, where there has been a series of recent attacks. According to DNA Info, the 34th Precinct's Capt. Jose Navarro told residents the man "had multiple lip piercings, two nautical star tattoos on the backs of his calves and was wearing a multi-colored beanie hat." Here's surveillance video of the guy, who apparently had some trouble with his Metrocard.
Navarro said the man had "a particular look," and described the hat as "something a hipster would wear."
The suspect followed a 32-year-old woman from the 181st A train station at 1 a.m. and attacked her near West 184th Street and Broadway, where he tried to take off her underwear and sexually assault her. She was able to fight him off; Navarro commended the witnesses who called 911 during the attack.

Note: Saying this guy looked like a hipster doesn't mean he is a hipster, nor is it evidence that we know what that term actually means. But this usage clearly represents a further development in the etymology of the word. May we live to catch this guy, and retire the expression altogether. It's shorts season -- keep your eyes out for star tattoos on calves.
