Summer Streets Coming Back in August Without Dumpster Pools, With Guacamole

Not this year, Bill.
Today the Department of Transportation announced this year's Summer Streets program, which will close off city streets to cars in order to provide for summer fun beginning in August. This year, though, the event will be without one of its main attractions: dumpster pools. "There are no dumpster pools this year but we are going to have some other attraction including a climbing wall that's 25-feet-tall," DOT spokesperson Nicole Garcia told us. Cool, we guess, but not the same. Also on the agenda are sandboxes, which sound almost as gross as the term "dumpster pool." The festivities, which will feature "guacamole making" hosted by Chipotle (now, that's something we can get behind), are scheduled for August 6, 13 and 20. At least there are other pools.
