Alfa Choice and Christopher Shears Jump Off Tappan Zee Bridge; One Dies, Other Is Critical
For reasons currently unknown, Alfa Choice, 29, and her boyfriend, Christopher Shears, 44, jumped off the Tappan Zee Bridge together from the roof of their parked SUV on Tuesday morning. They were nude and holding hands. Choice, who had taught at the Bronx High School of Science, was rescued and died from injuries sustained in the 175- to 250-foot drop. Shears was rescued and is in extremely critical condition at Nyack Hospital, reports the Daily News. 
His mom said, after Shears had surgery, "He's not doing better. They're moving him. He's a great guy, a great son. He loved people." She also said, as to the couple's relationship, "I can't even say because it's not something I want to talk about."
In a weird side note, Choice was a graduate of and was also working at Cornell, which has its own share of troubled people jumping off things. The couple lived in Ithaca together.
