Andrew Cuomo to Replace Joe Biden in 2012?

Yesterday, the New York Post ran a story saying that former New York GOP head William Powers is certain President Obama will ask Governor Andrew Cuomo to be his vice presidential candidate for the 2012 elections. "I don't think there's any doubt Obama is going to pick him as his running mate," Powers told the paper. The move makes sense, Powers insists, because "Andrew had a fabulous session. It was fabulous. A property-tax cap, ethics reform and, for Democrats, gay marriage."

This isn't the first time the rumor mill has given Joe Biden a pink slip; last Fall, Bob Woodward predicted that Hillary Clinton would replace the vice president in 2012. Woodward's claim was quickly dismissed by then-Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. The Cuomo VP claim looks to be heading down a similar path.

In other words, wait until today's White House press conference before you start making "Obama-Cuomo 2012" bumper stickers and tank tops; Politico isn't too confident this rumor will last past lunchtime:

[White House Press Secretary Jay] Carney doesn't like to talk about 2012 politics at his briefing, but if recent history is any guide, Obama's press secretary will be swift in dismissing the conjecture.

Thank goodness for that; Biden just got a Twitter account and it'd be a shame if Scranton's finest didn't get the chance to really break it in.

This again? Biden rumor mill churns [Politico]
