Ilonko Krauss, Holocaust Survivor, Hit by Minivan
The local Fox News television reporter puts it like this: "To survive the worst of the worst -- a Nazi death camp! -- and then 70 years later, you're crossing this little street in Queens and you get struck by a car... Well, that's what happened this morning." Basically. Ilonko Krauss was hit by a minivan at 75th Ave. in Forest Hills as it backed into a parking space. She was sent to New York Hospital-Queens in critical condition and the driver of the 2003 Toyota Sienna has been issued summonses for failure to exercise care and unsafe backing. Considering the 92-year-old Krauss survived Auschwitz during World War II, the driver is also being charged with bad karma in this life and the next. [Fox NY] ![]()
