Kitten Rescued After Throw From Car on Verrazano Bridge, Is Cute

From the Verrazano Bridge comes a story of heartbreak, hope, and cuteness: a 5-week-old kitten was thrown from a moving car on that bridge Saturday, and has lived to tell, or rather, meow, the tale. An Animal Care & Control officer saw the kitten-throwing take place. He then went to work on the rescue, enlisting truck drivers to block the road so the kitten, now named "Verrazano," could be delivered to safety. The hunt is on to find the cruel-hearted culprit, and Verrazano is in AC&C's Staten Island shelter. The kitty, a Russian blue, is not yet old enough to be adopted, an AC&C spokesman told the Daily News, but will go into a foster home once he becomes of age -- two months. Get in line. It should be noted that this is not the only case of kitten-throwing that has taken place recently: an incident involving 9-week-old Beetle occurred last month in Long Island. [NYDN, CBS, NY1]

I visited the Staten Island animal shelter facility after watching FOX 5 news.  Verrazano was gone by then, apparently on "The View". As I was there a litter of kittens arrived, abadoned by their mother.  I am now the proud owner of a 3 week old gray kitten with blue eyes. We have to feed him with a pet baby bottle.Thank you Greg Kelly for bringing this to our attention, and hope many others will adopt a pet.  They will give you "great  joy".

I presume they mean a 9 week old beagle?  Who throws a beetle?

If the "kitten thrower' is caught, what are the potential charges/penalties?    I hope they are AT LEAST severe enough to cause them jailtime--say a month minimum and a substantial--$5000> to hurt and get the word out that that was just EVIL!  Animal Care and Control has 24 hour drop-off.  Evil AND lazy.   glenn from the bronx.

He won't get jailtime Glenn, but hopefully he will get fined up the wazoo with maybe weekends cleaning stinky poop at the shelter.. And if he doesn't like that we can just throw him off the bridge with a life preserver (safety first lol ) of course.
