Monica Shay, Shot By Mark Geisenheyner, Dies; Unemployment Rises to 9.2%; Verrazano Kitten Is Quite Popular

Monica Shay, 58, professor at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, died last night of the gunshot wounds sustained on Sunday at the hands of Mark Geisenheyner, who also shot her husband, Paul, her nephew, Joseph, Joseph's girlfriend, Kathryn Erdmann, and Erdmann's 2-year-old child, Gregory. Gregory and Joseph were also killed, as was the gunman after a 6-hour standoff. There's a memorial vigil scheduled for Monica Shay in Tompkins Square Park on Saturday at 8 p.m. [NYP, EV Grieve]
