Scientology and the Nation of Islam: A Heartwarming Independence Weekend Parable

FarrakhanHandshake.jpg
Your reward for slogging through the impenetrable Dianetics: Face time with Farrakhan!
There's nothing like the Fourth of July weekend to amp up our pursuit of happiness and help us reflect on what this country stands for: freedom, baby!

Of course, having our great freedoms of conscience and speech means that some folks are going to do some pretty freaky things with their time, money, and independence!

For example, we've been watching warily as members of the Nation of Islam are spending their spare time with e-meters, engrams, and the writings of L. Ron Hubbard.

Holy Doctrinal Mashup, Batman!

Over the last few years, Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan has been encouraging his members to read Hubbard's book Dianetics, and even to get enough training in Scientology to become auditors.

As quite a few have noted, Farrakhan and the so-white-he-glows Hubbard seem an extremely unlikely pairing. But then, both ascribe to pretty outlandish theories of where people come from (look it up, I'm not getting bogged down in that here), and both also are loonier than fruitcakes.

To take an example, we stumbled across this first-person testimonial by a man who calls himself Brother Jesse Muhammad, a member of Houston's Mosque No. 45.

In April, Brother Jesse described his introduction to, and training in Scientology at the website of Houston's major daily paper, the Houston Chronicle. (Um, really? Yes, really. Hard to imagine something similar at the website of the New York Times, I have to say.)

In "My First Experience with Scientology," Brother Jesse writes that just hearing that Farrakhan was encouraging members to look into Hubbard's writing was enough for him.

I have been a student under the leadership of Minister Farrakhan for sixteen years now, and he has yet to lead me astray. Whenever he has brought something to us it has always been of great benefit to us as individuals, our families, our entire NOI membership, our people and humanity. I had no doubt he had seen something valuable in Dianetics and I was eager to find out what it was!

Brother Jesse got himself a copy of Dianetics and devoured it eagerly. He couldn't help but notice that there was a lot of negative stuff about Scientology on the Internet but he didn't let it bother him. "As a member of the Nation of Islam, I'm used to that," he writes.

Also, he wasn't about to leave one faith for another:

I wasn't planning to leave the Nation of Islam and become a follower or worshipper of L. Ron Hubbard nor was I trying to become a "deep" scientologist. Rather, I was eager to learn something of value that may assist me in my development as a student in the classroom of Allah (God). I have read many books written by people with a mental "filtering system" in place that I may extract that which is of value.

Brother Jesse then learned how Scientology's auditing process works. It's a talking cure, and remarkably like the psychotherapy that Scientology demonizes, but hey, folks get stuff off their chests and tend to feel better. Hallelujah!

Brother Jesse writes that he was determined to qualify as an auditor and he did. It earned him a handshake from Farrakhan.

Janet Reitman, in her new book, Inside Scientology, writes that the late Isaac Hayes, a longtime Scientologist, had encouraged Scientology leader David Miscavige to lower the church's notoriously high prices in order to attract more African-American members. But was an influx of Nation of Islam members what Hayes had in mind?

Anyway, enjoy your beer and barbecue this weekend, and pursue your happiness in all the freaky ways you want. Some members of NOI certainly are!

READ FOR KNOWLEDGE!!! I'm glad I'm smart enough to know that it's always best to constantly be learning!!! I'm not a Buddist but the Dalia Lama has written some very inspirational books! I take whats good for me and leave the rest alone! I don't care if Bugs Bunny wrote it, if i could use it to better my life it's useful! I might not agree with everything I read but I've learned something. All I've learned from the negativity on this page is that KNOWLEDGE IS KEY!!! And BTW... I pretty sure God isn't to pleased with it!

David Miscavige must have special 3-D motion pictures of Louis Farrakhan having sex with the Grand Wizard of the KKK and Bejamin Netanyahu ... thats the only way in hell (Allah inshalla) that the National of Islam would-be, could-be induced to have anything to to with the Hubbardites.

I wonder if Farrakhan is getting a kick back from Miscavage providing him with much needed "Raw Meat?"

Minister Farrakhan is not loony unless you know more than the 500 pastors who recently came out to see him in New York. I guess Air Force Major Don Keyhoe and the host of others who know and accept the fact of these Highly advanced craft plying the skies of the earth are also loonier than a fruitcake.

Comments like these come from minds that are in the grip of satan. You and the author need to free your minds and think for yourself. The kool-aid is poison.

Lous Farrakhan: "In Scientology, they talk about the type of people who are called “Sociopaths.” The Scientologists believe that a “Sociopath” is a person who has a Suppressive Personality;"

Louis Farrakhan: " I said to some of those in Scientology that were sharing their knowledge with me:  “You know, we have been living under White people for at least 4,000 years since they emerged from the hillsides and caves of Europe. I am looking at the Caucasian personality as that of a ‘sociopath.’”

Louis Farrakhan:   "According to the Scientologists, a “sociopath” is a “dangerous person” to organization. And when you find these people you have to expel them from any organization, because a sociopath is not governed by laws that keep order in a society, nor can they be trusted among groups of people who share one common cause."

Louis Farrakhan:   "I say, dear Caucasian people, that if you were, by nature, “social beings,” you would have manifested the qualities that produce harmony in societal relationships. But you have manifested a personality disorder that is against the laws of a genuine society."

Well you can write all the bull you like, but the facts are that Muslims and Scientology are the fastest growing religions in the world today. I guess if some people still want to believe the world is flat and we are the only living life forms in this vast universe that's their problem. But there are many, many more people that are finished with all the crap from very narrow minded creeps that are trying very hard to keep the slaves in line. We are finished being slaves and into creating new realities that will create a place of love, peace and harmony for ALL.

Amazingly, the jewish and Isreali scientologists - who are reviled by Farrakhan - are okay with this.  Izzie Chait - Jewish art dealer and high level scientologist and confidante of Miscivige - boasts about bringing "schvartzas" into his org.  Just shows how brainwashed they are!

I have to wonder if the UFO similarity will dissipate once NOI hears Hubbard's lecture where he makes fun of a black man talking to a hat; how South African black folk were unauditable and the only reason Zulus weren't in mental institutions is their tribe didn't have any, and how blacks tend to spend their money on material things instead of spiritual things; and when he wrote his wife to 'get herself a n*' to scrub the floor, because that's what they're for.  Hubbard was racist even for his time.

LOL if you look at the Farrakahn followers, they write these blogs... they say "Well at first I was taken aback by scientology, it didn't seem right"

There are only 3 possible explanations for the unholy alliance: 1. Purely money, kickbacks....(after all the orgs are really franchises whose owners get a cut of the take) 2. Farrakhan got brainwashed. 3. Farrakhan got brainwashed and gets kickbacks. Ta-da!

So nice of you to fly in from Moonbat City and join with us here today as we apply some critical thinking to some of the big issues of the day.

Did you arrive by Saucer? Is the meter still running?

So if we disagree with your view, then we are in the "grip of satan"?  Sounds like the NOI and $cientology are a perfect match.

Gofor it

Again, you only know what your overlords tell you.  Do you honesty think your cult is the "fasting growing 'religion' on the planet?"  Your orgs are empty.  People are leaving in droves.  The world knows all about you now.  And again, posting that just makes you look really, really creepy!  Believe in what you want but don't destroy families and kill people as  is your policy towards those that criticize your group.  I know scientology hates freedom of speech, but your methods to deny others theirs, is creepy squared.

Scientia
Scientia

That's a great goal to have but how are you going about it? By donating to the IAS? Where is your money going exactly? Do you even know?

If Miscavige was genuinely interested in clearing the planet...

- Where is all the money being spent by the IAS? Is it actually being spent? We hear at DM's glitzy events that the IAS has sponsored this and that but in the outside world there are no observable products to be seen. With the billions of dollars available, why aren't we seeing tv ads in every corner of the planet? The new CCHR videos are superb; why can't I see them doing the rounds on prime time television? The same goes for TWTH. Where are they?

- Why isn't DMSMH or FOT available as a free ebook? We should be using social media and the latest platforms to get Scientology out into the world! Whilst you guys cheer Miscavige for building yet another printing facility, I am downloading an LRH lecture mp3 off the web for free and listening to it on my phone.

- The new Ultra Mark VIII E-Meters have been sat in storage since 2004. They are supposedly far more precise and affordable than the Mark VII. Why then are they not available and in broad use? Isn't there a planet that needs Clearing? Why is DM still flogging an inferior and more expensive machine?? This is not okay.

- Why is DM's brand of "Scientology" such a rip off? To Clear this planet it MUST be in reach of the everyman. That was Hubbard's intention afterall. Why then has Miscavige VIOLATED LRH pricing policies (see HCO PL 23 Sept 64 Policies: Dissemination and Programs) and made his Bridge a "luxury" to the masses, easily available only to Hollywood celebs, high rollers and the Nation of Islam. (wtf?)

- Why would Miscavige, if he was sincere and in total alignment with the goals of Scientology, edit this comment out of an LRH PDC lecture:

"Therefore, we really do have the remedy before the assault weapon is produced. Did you ever read poor old George Orwell's 1984? Yes, yes, that's wonderful. That would be...could be the palest imagined shadow of what a world would be like under the rule of the secret use of Scientology with no remedy in existence. .. It's a very simple remedy. And that's: just make sure that the remedy is passed along. That's all. Don't horde it, don't hold it; and if you ever do use any Black Dianetics, use it on the guy who pulled Scientology out of sight and made it so it wasn't available. Because he's the boy who would be electing himself 'The New Order.' And we don't need any more new orders. All those orders, as far as I am concerned, have been filled." Lecture 06 December 1952: Formative State of Scientology: Definition of Logic.

According to HCO PL 23 Dec 1965RB Suppressive Acts, Suppression of Scientology and Scientologists, it is a Suppressive Act to alter LRH material. Please explain to me, then, why this has been done.

"Any management which operates as a censorship or a propaganda medium will inevitably destroy itself and injure the group." -- LRH, HCO PL 9 Jan 51, An Essay On Management (OEC Vol. 7 p. 567)

Wow. Happen to have any evidence that they are the fastest growing religions in the world today? Or did you just swallow that from someone who told you that? Its not true. If you found out its not true would that change your opinion? Reasonable people admit that if the facts they base their opinions on were different, their opinions might change. Would yours?

Don't mislead people with your lies.   LRH never made fun of the black man talking to a hat.   The rest of you statements are also altered facts.  He did however develop ways to help his fellow man and many have found great relief.  Is your hatred so deep you can't wish another well for finding something that benefits them?

As always, Guest, a great post!  You too, enjoy the day we became a democracy.

Something I always like to tell people:  Two billion people struggle with food and shelter on a daily basis.  Another billion live on less than $3 a day.  Another billion just lives in abject poverty.  And there's another billion of working poor.  In India, out of their 1.1 billion countrymen, 600 to 700 million still live in poverty.  Our entire nation is only 310 million!  Our middle class lifestyles, and I'm not even mentioning the seriously rich, are in the top 3% to 5% of ALL THE LIFESTYLES on the planet.  Realize this, no matter what your situation is, and know we are all living large in America.

Of course, within the cult, it's just another work day...

Old OT7
Old OT7

As, yes, "...it didn't seem right."  But the the comment by Brother Jesse in the article said it all for me:  "Just hearing that Farrakhan was encouraging members to look into Hubbard's was enough for him"  No need for reason here!  If Louis says it, I'll believe it.  PLease check your mind and brain at the counter before entering.

I really think you nailed with with number 3, Guest!  Outstanding!  You do have to give them kudos, though, for a very effective way to separate people from their money and use their own minds to do it!

Happy Independence Day to everyone on this thread!  Those of you who have been to 3rd world countries know that those of us born in America hit the lotto lifestyle wise.  Even with all of our faults and idiot politicians, this country is one hell of a place to live.

Why did so much stuff have to be corrected and re-sold allegedly due to transcription errors? Why didn't all those OTs catch the "mistakes" for so many years? Seriously. How could that happen? Why did OT7 "Minister" Rex Fowler murder someone? That's not supposed to happen. And why couldn't his OT powers get him acquitted? Oooopsie.

Sorry, one more item.  To Tony Ortega:  Wishing you and your family a very blessed Independence Day!  Thank you so very much for standing up for one of our founding principles:  Freedom of Speech.  You're probably on the cult's enemies list, but to us posters, you're an American hero for continuing to stand up to what is obviously a totalitarian group with anti-American ambitions.  Hubbard once said/wrote, that "CLEARS"  should be the only people allowed to vote.  They must hate this holiday with a vengeance!  You go, Tony!

Where did get the idea that the comment posters at Tony's Blog are "haters" ?

While it is quite true that many find your beliefs to be moonbat crazy, I don't believe that they hate you for having said beliefs. I don't hate you for what you believe in.

I actually feel a little sadness when I think about how much experience of a real world has been compromised and abandoned for the sake of the writings of a psychopath, who was deep into amphetamine psychosis.

I think that you're are really missing out on what a life can be all about by buying into that bogus 'church' science-fiction, disguised as "religious scripture."

Of course, you and your OSA pals think the same of us. You all believe we must be starved for reading material and live in the sewers of Las Vegas; another charming feature of your delusional scilon universe.

You're welcome to it, Slope. We are all free to systematize our delusions any which way we want to. You go your way and I'll go mine.

Gosh, the OSA Scientology Private Investigators are good. They are spending those "donations" wisely. They got the goods on me: I'm a "Discordian" (whatever the hell that is), I'm not nice to people (memo to self: call Mom), I don't say hello to people (man, I thought I had that Seinfeld "Hellooooooo" down pat), can't find a job (duh, why should I, I'm paid to post, don't knock it), don't produce an honest product (like the piece of the blue sky "Bridge to Nowhere", I guess), and don't help people (shoulda let that lady cut in line at the grocery). Did you know the "orgs" are franchises with the owners getting a cut of the take? That's some top-notch religion there Lou.

I know they are not naive, but I don't think they are against all religions like yourself.   I know they want their ideas and thoughts and freedoms.  I've lived in NY and met many VV fans.   I just think your chaos and dissent theory brings us down a very slippery slope.  You have tried all the rants.  But when they meet a Scientologist if they don't have deep hatred in their soul like yourself they will say hello.   I'm done now with this. I have to go see the Commodores play some great rock music.   I will leave you to your dirty TShirt in your kitchen eating your frozen dinners.  Much love and may you feel better about yourself.

Is that what you want Sub Genius to be made to go away. Is your Discordianism and  chaos, discord, and dissent getting to you.   Try being nice to people and others will be nice to you.  Say hello and others will say hello to you.   Don't get too upset that you are not important enough to matter.  Find a job,  produce an honest product. Try to help someone; it's much in need today.  Isn't that the real point.  You travel the same line of posting with each one of you paid for posting people. Eventually you go to this out there stuff as proof of something.    Scientologists, Catholics, Buddists and many other religions I know help people.  That s a good thing.  Its easy to try to discourage it. In fact this seems to be your religion, although you mock it, its what's you are about.

You do know about Xenu in OT3, right? (could never figure out why Hubbard didn't know whether its "Xenu" or "Xemu", but whatever) And when you get all the way to OT8, you find out you mocked up your past lives. Hope I didn't spoil the surprise for you, but I did just save you a ton of money. Why does Scientology harass its critics, isn't it powerful enough to withstand criticism? Seems kind of defensive to me. Oh, and why are there critics if there are OTs who have control of matter energy space and time? Couldn't they just make them go away? And what's taking so long in clearing the planet? Does the "tech" not work or something? And if you were brainwashed, would you know it?

bewreslipperyslope

Is that your new twist to say bitter. Wow such goading.  Nothing I stated above was bitter, but you paid for posters can all say the same thing and maybe you think that makes it so.  So you all can comment on each other, and seem like they are so many of you when there is not.  The pretty Org's and they are pretty, aren't they, and they are so much more productive and  attended.  They will be more so as more Religions unite and utilize Mr. Hubbards works.  You have not been to any of them so don't claim to know.  You cheer and recite the same things your new midnight basketball playing drunken leader chimes.  I don't spend my life attacking something as you do.  People want answers and more and more reach every day, and people who want a name will try to attack it boost themselves in importance.  Scientology has come a long way from one man and one book, and is just a new beginning of a whole new expansion.

Fully agreed with the observations and statements about "... angry and bitter of late, more so than is usual..." Candace6.

I've also perceived *desperation*, which warms the cockles of my heart.

This year, it's like the cult of $cientology is caught in a hall of fun-house mirrors, during a richter scale nine earthquake, in slow-motion.

Why so enturbulated bewre?  Is it because all those pretty orgs YOU paid for,  but Miscavige owns, are empty?  Is it because your destructive cult is mocked and despised around the world?  Is it because the constant regging for more, more, MORE money just won't stop?  Is it because every day a new PR disaster befalls the fastest shrinking "religion" on Earth?  Really, I've noticed that the Scientologists posting here and elsewhere appear quite angry and bitter of late, even more so than usual.  I hope you're nowhere in the vicinity of tiny David Miscavige, those little fists of fury must be flying like there's no tomorrow.

Old OT What ever.  Listen to the tape again.  I am familiar with the tape and LRH is not laughing at them but commending them on their ability to grant life to things.  Don't let your old racists thoughts cloud what you hear from Mr Hubbard.    What shirt are you talking about?  .  Throw the word Cult and hope it sticks.  It won't, it never has, but the same 25 or 30 people who spend their life posting hatred.   You live to attack something you were a part of because you can not confront what exists in this world.  With 5 wars going on.  With 4 different countries killing hundreds in the streets every day, and burning churches; This is what you spend your time on.   Don't tell others that Scientologists are not aware, they are in those trenches.  Scien Doctors, Lawyers, writers, artists, soldiers are in this society doing many things to help.  What are you doing but distorting LRH words, and lying to yourself and others.  Get out and start doing something for the world again or if ever and stop being a hater.
