Equan Southall Arrested in the Murder of Camila Guzman
DNA Info is reporting that Equan Southall, reportedly the boyfriend of Camila Guzman, has been arrested and charged with her murder. 
Guzman, a transgender woman from Chile, was stabbed to death on August 1st. She was memorialized by friends and LGBT activists outside of her home in East Harlem last week at a vigil organized by the Anti-Violence Project.
Transgender women of color account for a highly disproportionate share of murders in the LGBT community. We will continue to follow this case as it develops.

Update: Southall will be appearing in New York Criminal Court on Monday, August 22nd.
