Jake Davis, Alleged LulzSec Leader, Released on Bail

Jake Davis, an 18 year-old believed by Scotland Yard to be the leader of the hacker group LulzSec, was released on bail this morning. He appeared at a City of Westminster Magistrates' Court wearing "jeans, a black T-shirt, denim shirt and sunglasses," the Telegraph reports. Prosecutors say that Davis had a collection of 750,000 personal passwords on his home network of 16 computers.

Davis allegedly led LulzSec under the pseudonym "Topiary" during their attacks on the CIA, Sony and News Corporation. The group took responsibility for changing The Sun's website to feature a joke article about Rupert Murdoch's suicide as a response to News Corporation's phone hacking scandal.

The conditions of his bail state that he must wear an electronic monitoring tag and refrain from using the Internet. He was seen carrying the Michael Brooks book "Free radicals: The secret anarchy of science" as he left the court.

His Twitter account has been erased, except for the message, "You cannot arrest an idea," posted July 22nd.
