Muslims in World's Tallest Building Asked to Break Ramadan Fast Later

From our Religious Observances in Skyscrapers department comes an interesting story from the United Arab Emirates. The Washington Post reports that Dubai's top Muslim cleric told residents living above the 80th floor of the 2,717 foot Burj Khalifa to "wait three extra minutes" to break their Ramadan fast "because they will be able to see the sun longer than those on the ground." This request echoes practices when mountain settlers would delay the breaking of their daytime fast for the same reason. In related news, Canadians in the observation deck of Toronto's CN Tower have been asked to eat their Tim Horton's "Timbits" three minutes earlier as their breakfast will start sooner.
