Fashion Week: Pageant Kids Go Wild West at Cicciabella
Last night I watched two hours of Lifetime's Dance Moms to prepare for the amazingness I knew I was going to behold this afternoon. Cicciabella, the outdoor slipper designer, showed its 2012 Cowgirl Riders line: western booties for the under-8 crowd. A gaggle of little girls, including Eden Wood, star of the TLC reality show Toddlers & Tiaras, modeled the multi-purpose footwear to their favorite country or hip-hop tunes. Wood, who was born in 2005, made several appearances, but culminated with a live performance of her single "Cutie Patootie," in which she marvels at the bounty of celebrity, like having her own Facebook page.

Many of the other girls were less seasoned performers, but clearly have potential to become a creepy pageantess and/or stripper like Eden did. (See the future stripper in a video below.)
Kelly Bensimon, one of the Real Hosuewives of New York, hosted the show, and frankly seemed just as freaked out by some of the dance moves I was. And she would occasionally confuse the girls, like when she announced that Allison was Zoe. Poor Allison. Kelly also admitted on several occasions that she had hair-envy of some of the girls. At one point, on the red carpet, she stroked little Kaylie's blond curls and repeated, as though in a trance, "You are so pretty."
Though what I really wanted to see was the moms, they mainly hid backstage, only appearing for a bit to escort their daughters to the red carpet for photos after the show. But it's only a matter of time before most of them, too, wind up on a reality TV show, so I'm sure I'll be getting to know them soon.
As for the shoes, thick-soled slippers embroidered with little horsies and the like, Kelly Bensimon couldn't have put it more succinctly: They're "the coolest Uggs on the planet." I'm sure Cicciabella was thrilled with that commercial for their competition.
See Eden Wood model some Cicciabella Cowgirl Riders. It gets pretty stripper-y around 0:18.
