Mike Bloomberg Thinks New Yorkers Might Riot Over Lack of Jobs

Remember, ever so long ago, in a completely different season, when a hurricane was possibly bearing down on New York City and New Yorkers were quivering in the bodega lines? Mayor Bloomberg bravely addressed the crowds, and reporters asked, Will there be looting? His answer: "This is New York. We don't have that sort of thing." However, riots, apparently, are things that today's New Yorkers are capable of -- and they could happen if Washington doesn't start making some jobs happen!

Via the Daily News, on Bloomberg's weekly radio show today, he invoked the fear of possible future riots, saying,

"We have a lot of kids graduating college, can't find jobs. That's what happened in Cairo. That's what happened in Madrid. You don't want those kinds of riots here."

Granted, looting and riots are are not one and the same, but they do often go hand in hand. But the point that's interesting to note is how Bloomberg's tune has so quickly shifted from Looting? Impossible! to Riots? Possible! when things turned from uncontrollable natural disasters to events of a more political nature. Or maybe he's just feeling dramatic today. (Bloomberg: Today's angry youths are doing yoga on Wall Street.)
