70 Willow Street
Run, don't walk to go buy Truman Capote's former home in Brooklyn Heights. The property at 70 Willow Street where Capote once drank martinis all afternoon long has been on the market for some time, but as Curbed noted today, the asking price has taken a dive from $18 million to $14,995,000. For mere mortals that's still obviously way too fancypants, but we supposed that for some of the uber-rich out there this reduction represents some cheapo-depot prices.

The listing does make it sound really incredibly nice:

Five-story, double-width, high Greek-Revival four-bay townhouse built in 1839 on a four-square country villa plan. Three-story elliptical mahogany staircase with rosette oculus window at the top. Double parlor with 12'+/- ceilings. Interior period detail designed by Minard Lafever. 40'+/- columned Charleston porch along rear of house leading to garden. 9,000+/- sf plus 2,000+/- sf basement on a 50 x 100'+/- lot. 38 windows have east, south, and west exposures, including parlor floor Jeffersonian floor-to-ceiling pocket windows and French doors leading to the Federal style columned veranda. 11 fireplaces, 11 bedrooms, 7.5 baths, and a private gated driveway. Two chef's eat-in kitchens, master suite with bath, boudoir, and walk-in closet, artist's studio, and library.

The house has been listed since January and in the spring was rumored to have two offers, but evidently no deal was closed.

For a look at what you're missing, here's a picture of Capote reclining in the utterly fabulous interior of 70 Willow:

When looking in to forclosed homes on the market, you will also need to think about the rates of interest of your housing loans.
