Mike Bloomberg's Young Men's Initiative: the TV Show

Last week, we had the opportunity discuss our Voice feature story "The White Mayor's Burden" on Brian Vines's BCAT show Intersect. Vines invited us to join Dr. Noel Anderson of Brooklyn College to talk about Mayor Bloomberg's Young Men's initiative.

We chatted with Vines mostly about our reporting on the FDNY and minority hiring, and about the NYPD's history of racially discriminatory marijuana arrests (which Ray Kelly reined in, on paper at least, a few days after our story came out.) Professor Anderson talked about his experiences working with young men of color at Brooklyn College, as well as about his involvement with the CUNY Black Men's Initiative.

The video was produced by and embedded courtesy of Brooklyn Independent Television on BRIC's BCAT TV Network.
