As we've noted before, the fancy Franklin Street townhouse where Dominique Strauss-Kahn spent his house arrest is now for sale or rent. When it went back on the market in September it was going for about $14 million; now the price has been cut to $12.5 million, Curbed noticed today. It's been available for new renters/buyers since September 15, but despite its intriguing history, it hasn't sold. The place is pretty slick, according to the listing:

PRIVATE GARAGE POSSIBLE! One of a kind 27 ft wide townhouse on a beautiful cobblestone street in the heart of Tribeca. Exquisite top to bottom renovation by famed Architect/Designer Leopoldo Rosati just completed with only the finest materials and craftsmanship. Lower level: State of the Art dBox Motion Controlled Theater, Gym, Spa Steam Bath, Bar. First floor: Nanny/Guest Suite w/bath & separate entrance, Boffi Kitchen with Miele & Gaggenau appliances, limestone radiant heat floors, great room with large skylight and fireplace. Second floor: Antique French wide plank oak floors, two bedrooms with custom closets, Italian limestone bath with Duravit jet tub and waterfall shower. Large planted terrace with Japanese paper glass wall and Wolf natural gas grill. Third Floor: Master suite w/wide plank floors, wet bar, his/her walk-in closets/dressing rooms, Limestone bath w/Duravit jetted tub & dual rainfall steam shower. Entire home features Italian cabinetry, new windows, custom steel staircases, Control 4 automation system with custom lighting & speakers throughout.

So why aren't the uber-rich biting? Robert Dvorin of Town Real Estate, which is handling the sale, said that the price cut isn't due to a lack of interest. "The owner is just more motivated to get it sold," he said.

"People are definitely interested, we just need to bring in more action," he said. "You get more action with a lower price."

The rental price of $50,000 a month hasn't changed.
