As we reported yesterday, Occupy Wall Street protesters were arrested while marching over the Brooklyn Bridge. The New York Times reports police made over 700 arrests. Demonstrators claim authorities misled them by saying they could march on the bridge. Officers arrested people who weren't on the pedestrian walkway, but many who were on the bridge say the distinction wasn't made clear. Jesse A. Myerson, a media coordinator for Occupy Wall Street, told the paper, "The cops watched and did nothing, indeed, seemed to guide us onto the roadway." [NYT]

The mental hospital that houses attempted Reagan assassin Jon Hinckley Jr. has suggested releasing him, CNN reports. Hinckley has been at St. Elizabeths Hospital since 1972 and doctors are recommending that he be allowed to eventually live with his mother in Williamsburg, Virginia. Government lawyers disagree with the decision, and are fighting to keep him in custody, asserting that he is still "capable of great violence." [CNN]

Two typhoons struck the Philippines, resulting in 55 reported deaths. Typhoon Nesat hit Friday, killing 3 and Typhoon Nalgae struck the already ailing region on Saturday. Survivors in villages in the northern part of the country are stuck on rooftops due to flooding and rescuers are moving to get supplies to them. [AP]

The Yankees beat the Tigers 9-3 last night to take game one of the ALDS. The game was delayed for 23 hours due to rain on Friday. Robinson Cano hit a grand slam and drove in six runs. Ivan Nova got the win after C.C. Sabathia started the game the day before. Game two is at 3:07 this afternoon. [SI]
