Scientology Investigation of South Park the Last Straw for Katie Holmes: Aussie Magazine Report

NewIdeaMag.jpg
An Australian gossip magazine is reporting something about Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise which is probably about as reliable as most of the stuff written about Tom and Katie by similar tabloids here in the U.S.

So why would we care what a supermarket tab from the other side of the world is saying about Katie?

Well, the magazine's reporting appears to be based at least partly on our stories from last week, and says that Katie is steaming mad about Scientology's creepy South Park investigation, enough to walk out on her Scientologist hubby.

In other words, at least one publication in the world has gone and done the incredible: given the Village Voice credit for splitting up TomKat!

Aussie journalist Bryan Seymour sent us news this morning that New Idea had put the Holmes-Cruise story on its front page. From the magazine's website:

SHOCK SHOWDOWN: KATIE WALKS OUT ON TOM

An upset Katie Holmes has stormed out on her husband Tom Cruise following explosive allegations the Church of Scientology has been spying on Hollywood stars - including 'going through their trash' to find 'vulnerabilities'. The actress, who is tired of her struggling film career being overshadowed by bizarre claims about her husband's religion, finally flipped after embarrassing Scientology internal documents surfaced online last week. The upsetting claims resulted in a fiery showdown with Tom that left Katie fuming. 'Katie was in such a bad mood about it all that she ended up bickering with Tom,' an insider reveals.

Well, we know how these "insider" accounts in the supermarket tabs go. Maybe it's true, and maybe it isn't.

All we know is, Katie Holmes ought to be fuming mad after reading our stories last week, which showed that her hubby Tom's church reacted to the ribbing it got in a 2005 South Park episode by targeting the show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, as well as the animator duo's friends and employees for the typical Scientology retaliatory investigation routine, including private investigators snooping into their lives and sifting through their trash. (Links to all six of our stories last week: 1. The South Park investigation is revealed in secret Scientology documents. 2. More internal church documents show the extent of the operation. 3. Scientology responds in typical fashion. 4. Filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman confirms he was pumped for information, as the documents suggested. 5. Journalist Mark Ebner was also investigated for working on the episode. 6. Private investigator Mark Chauppetta reveals what Scientology PIs are looking for in your trash.)

We're expecting to have more material this week on Scientology's targeting of South Park, and Katie Holmes will want to pay close attention: additional documents spell out her husband's role in the operation.

Yo, Ortega,

The Voice purges anyone of relevance from Chuck Eddy to Wayne Barrett and Tom Robbins.  Now we get endless blog posts about Scientology.  One story would have been sufficient, but this is absurd.  What are you trying to do, be Gawker?

By the way, the Voice's coverage of Occupy Wall Street has been abysmal.  There's a full-scale revolt going on, and you guys are belly gazing as the earth gives out beneath your feet.

It doesn't have to be a either/or. I'm getting plenty of info about Occupy Wall Street on all news channels. This is one of the only places that is keeping up with this cult. It's a on-going story that millions of people believe it or not, are interested in following - all over the world. It's our own private cult-soap-opera!

Tony,

It is hard for me to believe you actually printed this story. How could this be?Ms. Holmes is 'locked' up tight... she will see & hear only what is allowed..The Scion Filter is "airtight" around her.

Pretty big risk .... running this blurb.

how can she be locked up tight, if the story says she already left?

doesn't make sense...

The best chance for Katie to keep Suri on a long-term basis is to leave the Cult NOW.  Soon enough, Suri will be pressured to make the Cult her main allegiance for this lifetime.  And the risk of permanent disconnection becomes significant at that point.

A few years ago every gossip rag editor and indeed most regular media editors would have spiked this story unread as soon as they saw the word 'Scientology'. Now, they consider whatever minor hassles the Scientologists might inflict on them less important than reader interest. Rightly or wrongly, people like to laugh at nutty cults and this one is thought to be the silliest of them.

The cold, sad truth: is that this magazine "New Idea", The Village Voice and EVERY OTHER 'entheta' piece of literature is carefully hidden from Katie - and it is more than likely that she has never read these articles, and truly has NO idea what is going on. I wish it were different, but it is not. The cult spends considerable time washing everything they will come in contact with to prevent the truth. Sad.

Now that would be a first a non Scientologist splitting up a Scientology family:)

Katie probably read the article, and realized that the cult is worse than she ever  imagined. Plus, all of her  friends and family have also read it, and  suddenly realize they may receive the same treatment in the future!

She will undoubtedly become a pariah with her celebrity friends......after all, celebrities value their privacy above e/g........

Rathbun has trickled out some goodies (including the dox last week), but he's cried wolf on knowing/releasing bombshell documents and has mostly cried wolf.  If what he's about to release is the same old hashed-out shit about Cruise putting pressure on Viacom for the South Park episode, I'll only be happy if it causes bigger waves.  Rehashing stuff from six years ago is hardly a scoop.

Katie may well know first-hand the relentless and intrusive nature of the Cult of Scientology.  She may have signed away many rights to claim the title of "Mrs. Tom Cruse," through pre-marial agreements, etc.  One thing is sure... you do NOT get between a mother and her child.  If Katie has second thoughts, she will not let anyone--including Tom--stop her from protecting her child.Let's hope she has come to her senses now that the wedding is over, the fantasy has faded, and reality has set in.

Schockenawd
Schockenawd

Yeah, it would be nice if you were right about the whole "not getting between a mother and her child" thing.  But, tell Lori Hodgson that. Or any of the other mothers whose heartbreaking disconnection stories get us all riled up every time we hear them.  The Church of Scientology actually does a bang-up job of getting between mothers and their children.  Especially since her dad is the World's Most Dedicated Scientologist (just ask DM), there's no reason to think that Suri Cruise is anything other than her mother's temporary plaything.

MissCabbage
MissCabbage

True, but Katie could kick up a tempest.  The media thrives on controversy.  They know that Tom, Katie and Suri Cruise are three persons whose names can sell magazines and tabloids.

So Katie decides to leave the cult and Tom tries to "disconnect" along with their daughter.  Katie calls the media and, well, the feeding frenzy ensues.  Every gossip, celebrity, and scandal website--and print media--would carry this story.  It is a win-win situation for Katie--that is IF she bolts.  She and Suri and Tom are too high-profile.

Though you clairified the questionable source - you jumped the gun on this one and it does take away some credibility on past & future articles.    Disappointed you picked this one up and ran with it.

Oh, I don't think that's quite fair. He puts the issue in perspective in the very first sentence. It's notable in that it reveals something about the cult's reputation in Australia, and it illustrates some of the impact of the South Park story, which Tony rightly claims some credit for. Also, it's kind of funny. :)

BTW, to see the episode that caused all the fuss, go to: www.xenu.net.  Go to the very bottom and click on "South Park Takes On Scientology."  Let it ramp up and enjoy the show.  What you will see is, in fact, this groups core beliefs, aka, OT3.

During Co$' lawsuit against the Cult Awareness Network, Kendrick Moxon was asked to justify his accusation that its president was a striptease dancer.  He said, "well, it could be true" though he had no evidence at all.

The week after Suri supposedly started school in LA, she was in NYC with her mom.  She and Katie are now in Europe, and they're said to be going on an extended international trip.  So far the school looks strictly theoretical.

Marco, you claim to be an astrophysicist, a business owner, and to live in Thailand.  If this is true, then your post was made around 2am your time. What type of business do you own that allows you to stay up all night?  I suspect, as I have posted before, that you are a fraud.  Everything about you (much like scientology) is a con, and you are either trolling out of boredom or in attempts to generate enough hits on your youtube channel to be able to move out of your parents basement.

My favorite  NYC anonymous protestor's sign "Free Katie, keep Tom".

I don't think she's gonna walk out though, Tom's her idol, and they are a family, Suri and Tom are her life.
