Fake Blind Guy Attempts to Teach New Yorkers a Lesson

• Sooo, a guy who basically uses disability to make people feel like shit or as a prank. Must be ncie to have the privilege to do so.

• If someone gives clear directions while pointing, and they are still understandable to the person receiving them, what does it matter if they point (instinctual) while doing so? The blind person will not know either way, presuming they are completely blind, and if they are not, then it's helpful. It seems this fellow is just looking for a reason to seem superior.

• not to mention that not all blind people are totally blind. some folks have some sight, and pointing would be tremendously helpful. /rant

• This dude is so off base it's not funny. I work with the visually impaired. I use so many non-verbal cues when speaking to them, because it's instinctual. And I'm not afraid or uncomfortable with speaking to them, so I speak to them like I would anyone else, which means if I'm going to make hand gestures, I'm going to make hand gestures. If I'm not clarifying enough, they'll tell me. Hell, I've even asked them, "Oh, what does she look like?" While I am usually pouring over with apologies, they don't care, because they KNOW I'm sighted and it's an honest mistake. The number one thing they always wish people would change about how they are spoken to is they want to be spoken to like anyone else. This guy is only making people more apprehensive and uncomfortable with communicating with them, and they already have so much of that.
