Most Expensive NYC Rental Costs $165,000 a Month, is in Plaza Hotel
That right there is the most expensive rental in New York, clocking in at a staggering $165,000 a month. The Astor Suite went on the market today and has three bedrooms, five bathrooms, a dining room, a library and an eat-in kitchen.
As with many gaudy things, the Trumps are behind this. In 1988, Donald Trump bought the Plaza Hotel and the Daily Mail describes the Astor Suite as the "brainchild" of his then-wife Ivana.
The current owner isn't named, though they apparently bought the place for a cool $30 million. It's been renovated by designer Steven Gambrel -- who, interestingly enough, is also the previous owner and decorator of Courtney Love's townhouse from which she'll soon be evicted.
