Ron Paul to Jay Leno: Michele Bachmann 'Hates' Muslims

ron paul.jpg
Last night, Ron Paul was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno promoting his new romantic comedy Unfair Trade, in which he plays a Libertarian Congressman who won't settle for anyone less than Ayn Rand (played by Katherine Heigl). He's also running for president, so Leno decided to ask him some questions about his fellow GOP candidates. What ensued is a preview of your Christmas dinner: Your lovable curmudgeon of a great uncle loosens up and everyone starts to pepper him with questions just to hear the zany, off-the-cuff responses he comes up with. Before long, he's accusing Aunt Gwen of hating Muslims and dad has to drive him back to the home. Take a look after the jump.

He started off nice enough during the back-and forth. When asked what he thinks of Romney, Paul told Leno, "He was governor of Massachusetts? That's where he should stay at." He had similar benign responses to the same question for Gingrich ("He should run for Speaker of the House") and Huntsman ("He's a good diplomat").

His thoughts on Michele Bachmann, however, weren't as reserved. "She doesn't like Muslims," Paul said, "She hates them, she wants to go get 'em."

"Hate" is such a strong word. Perhaps, "harbors a willful ignorance towards as a political ploy to drum up support from an aging, out-of-touch base" is more appropriate.

Moving on, Jay brought up Rick Santorum and said that he seems to only talk about "gay people." Paul corrected him, "Gay people and Muslims."

Neither Bachmann nor Santorum's camps have issued their responses yet. Because Ron Paul isn't a homosexual, Santorum will likely remain silent.

The Obama-Paul line of accommodation, apology, and appeasement towards radical Islam and Iran. "...for you to say maybe in a year they might have a weapon, there's a lot more saying they don't have it.”  The only evidence that Paul will accept is an atomic weapon in Iran's hands. His policy of submission to radical Islam is the blueprint for national suicide for the U.S. I trust Michele Bachmann. She is as smart as a whip and tougher than steel--the little lady with a spine of titanium. She is loved by patriotic Americans; she is hated by the jihadist's "useful idiots."

cma- im not sure that iran owning a nuke would be such a bad thing- the israelis have one and they are fucking totally mental, fascistic fuck pigs-Iran used to be one of the more forward thinking, cooperative and westerly minded arab nations till the US and israel started demonising them.face it the most destabilising force in world politics at the moment is not somalia or Iran or Iraq or afghanistan or any of the usually touted candidtaes- its the USA!supposed land of the free! where 1% of the population is in jail, the infastructure is collapsing into a anarchic failed police state, the criminal cabals of wall street keep the populous in deep poverty, neofeudalism runs rife, the politicians are lunatic racist ,homophobic rabble rousers, hyperinflation is destroying the fiat currency and all your taxes get spent on bombs.....the rest of the world watches in awe and waits to see which unfortunate nation of brown people your going massacre this month...if you want to destabilise the entire globe- go ahead and DONT vote Ron paul in, and btw what are you on about? in my opinion -unfortunately Ron paul couldnt change your inherently corrupt political system even if he tried so dont worry you will still get to send your kids off to war on behalf of halliburton and cocacola to kill all those nasty brown muslim types in Iran.

Ron Paul understands the founding fathers vision for this nation and the U.S. Constitution (as evidenced by his voting record).  However, I was disappointed in his remarks concerning Michelle Bachmann and Rick Santorum.  I understand that this was on Jay Leno and there was probably an element of humor involved, but I still think it is inaccurate and uncalled for.  They are both Christians and have made it clear that they don't hate Muslim believers or people who engage in homosexuality, but that they do hate the false religion of Islam and the sinfulness of homosexuality.  I also believe that they are neo-cons and don't have the discernment of Ron Paul.  I still plan on voting for Ron Paul, even if he doesn't win the nomination, but I would prefer he didn't say things like he did.

Is that what part of the strategy for the PaulBots is?  Get them on every single blog or forum and type this ridiculous tripe.  That will win people over to the dark side for sure . . . NOT!  Yikes I didn't know there were so many uninformed, misinformed people out there!  Is this the 5th or 6th time Paul has ran for president?

Every time the media writes an article attempting to trivialize or marginalize Ron Paul, it becomes more obvious to the people of this country that there is a concerted effort afoot to influence the outcome of the primaries and the election.  Ridiculous articles like this are now having the opposite effect of what was intended: they are actually driving people to learn about Ron Paul.  Keep up the good work!

I like Ron Paul... one of the few politicans that speaks about what he believes.

Great interview with Jay Leno!  Grrrrrrrreat!  Certainly added many more supporters of Ron Paul.  Many Obama 2008 voters were FB'ing that they are dropping the bummer and going with Ron Paul.  YEAH!  THAT's what should be making the news!  Ron Paul 2012!

Ron Paul said what Michelle Bachmann is afraid to say. End of story.

I don't get it.. Michele Bachman does hate Muslims? Not sure why there is so much sarcasm throughout your article.

Was Michelle Bachmann correct when she said that Iran was within months of building a nuclear bomb?

The IAEA recently reported that Iran had went from 3.5% nuclear enrichment to 20%. This took about 3 years. 90% enrichment is needed to build a nuclear bomb.

But maybe Iran has built one and stashed it with all of those WMD's in Iraq?

I am the most political ignorant American that has ever been. However, I do not need a PhD, Masters, Bachelors Degree, or a class at the community college to see that Rick Santorum and Michelle Bauchman both have a problem with homosexuals. Furthermore, they both seem "Hell - Bent" on picking a fight with Muslims thousands of miles away. So please tell me why someone, within the mainstream media, would call Ron Paul anything close to "crazy" for stating the obvious?

Michelle would say anything just to be first woman president.

Apparently we didn't read the same article. If the author's comments were not intended to be insulting, perhaps tongue-in-cheek, the attempt was a complete failure.

The only zany comments I notice are from a self-important blogger who's only contribution to the reader is unfounded, arrogant insults and absolutely zero content.

To the people below-- if you are not registered as Republican then you can switch so you can vote for Ron Paul in the primary and then switch back if you want. They are saying that Ron Paul can beat Obama but the hard part will be winnng the Republican primary.

People are finally starting to wake up to the fact that ALL our news media sources are corrupt.  I still turn on my TV just to see how dishonest they are being.  Then I go to the internet to find out what is actually happening.  Last night Fox had two talking heads on discussing the, "two clear front runners", in the GOP race.  Ron Paul is never even mentioned.

Nick Greene, you seem to be part of the corrupt news media system whose job it is to discredit and marginalize the honorable Dr. Ron Paul whom I believe is America's last chance to get it right.  After watching Dr. Ron Paul on Jay Leno's show last night, were his comments on Michelle Bachman and Rick Santorum REALLY the most important things he said?

Ron Paul for President in 2012!

Compared to Ron Paul the other candidates sound like they are using the strategy of getting a woman to have sex with them. Just tell the woman (or people) what they want to hear. That is their strategy and that is why they are always changing position, AKA flip flopping.

Nick Greene you're a fool. Ron Paul is completely right in both these statements

Is this new to people, Bachmann and Santorum don't like gays or Muslims... They want to limit rights for gays and they openly call for killing Muslims in the name of neocom war propaganda... They both openly call for profiling of Muslims and torturing hundreds or thousands of people in the hopes that one many know something... COMPLETE IDIOTS!

It would be down right scary and a complete disaster to have Bachmann or Santorum as our President...

After watching Leno last night, I'm so reassured that Ron Paul is the best candidate for president!

Will the black Muslims vote for Obama or for Ron Paul who wants to bring American soldiers out of the holy lands of the Muslims?

The author of this article is perfect example of how the media is taking every opportunity to discredit the only honest candidate in the race. Well done. Another brainwashed cog in the machine. Hope you enjoyed America. You can die knowing you did you're small part in keeping us in the road to disaster.

Are you crazy? Fuck man, I'm a Ron Paul fan so this nonsense of posting that this author or that author hates Ron Paul - when CLEARLY you didn't read the article or unable to comprehend what is being said - over an, at worst, non biased article is getting lame.

Yeeah!

My point is that the majority of folks - if they even hear or read ANYTHING about Ron Paul - are reading things like this. If they care enough to read the article they'll get to read Mr. Green liken Paul to someone's zany uncle who lives in a home. Bravo. You're a real Ron Paul fan, the BOMB. Keep up the good work.

The American people Know the wars have cost us the middle class our prosperity! The GOP Leadership is too OWNED to change course!

Ron Paul is the Real deal and will force the congress and senate (lower cap) to deal with the real problems of American instead of solely focusing on the elected class race to join the 1%!

If Republicans nominate another pro-war, pro-bail-out candidate like Gingrich, Romney or Perry; the issue of endless wars and Wall Street bail-outs is off the table.  Paul is the only one who will force Obama to account for his expansion of the wars and the bail-outs.

Hold Obama accountable, become a Blue Republican (just for a year).

I don't see how it makes him my crazy uncle when he says two very obvious things that everybody knows.

Rick Santorum is an anti-gay an anti-Muslim bigot.

Michelle Bachmann is an anti-Muslim bigot.  (She's an anti-gay bigot, too, but they left that out of this particular interview.)

It sounds more like he's ME at dinner, not my crazy uncle.

I thought he said it half jokingly after all it was on Jay Leno's show.. But even if not, when that woman talks about attacking a country of 1.2billion muslims under the pretense that they are somehow a threat to national security while there's no credible evidence to support her outrageous willingness to bomb them I can see a case could be made she hates muslims.

One thing is for sure, Paul, whether you disagree or agree with him, he tells the truth no matter what and I respect that more than anything.

p.s.: Did you see Joe Rogan's interview right after Paul's? He had a T-shit with his name on and said "I love everything that come's out of this guy's(Paul) mouth!"

Count von Count

a country of 1.2billion muslims

What country are you referring to? Did you mean to type "1.2 million Muslims"? Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim country and its population is just 237 million. China and India are the only countries with a total population of 1 billion or more and no way has she advocated bombing them. Iran's population is 76 million.
