Cyclist Almost Killed in Hit-and-Run; Help Him Find the Perp

So the Upper West Side resident didn't think twice about riding home Wednesday night, even though there was a light shower.

"I worked late and walked out of the building with a friend, who tried to convince me to take the subway. I was like: 'It's only drizzling, and I don't live that far away.' So I jumped on my bike."

Liss started his trip uptown at the intersection of 40th Street and Eighth Avenue, in the bicycle lane, around 10:30 p.m.

Liss woke up hours later in the hospital, with no memory of the moments before and during the short ride -- he's had to piece this story together by asking colleagues and paramedics what happened, he tells the Voice.

He was told that a vehicle hit him at 45th Street and Eighth Avenue, and that the car or truck immediately fled. Liss was found unconscious and concussed at the side of the road, he says. Now, the 44-year-old father of two wants your help finding the driver who left him for dead.

The NYPD, contacted by the Voice via phone and e-mail, hasn't commented on the incident.
