Native New Yorkers Say Shit In New Video
Even though there have been so many of these videos we're not sure whose saying what shit anymore, here we have via Gothamist "Shit Native New Yorkers Say," which you might think of as a companion piece to the earlier "Shit New Yorkers Say."
Whereas "Shit New Yorkers Say" features media outlet name-dropping, Brooklyn, Momofuku and Pat Kiernan, "Shit Native New Yorkers Say" has your mother, muggings, subway tokens, Giuliani, hookers and crack houses. We emailed "Shit Native New Yorkers Say" writer/director/actor Anthony DeVito to see how the video was conceived:
Eliot and Ilana Glazer, who made Sh*t NYers Say, are friends of ours and we love their video; it's a perfect satire of those young, spoiled New Yorkers. We thought it would be funny to add the perspective of the "born and raised" contingent, who have a very different experience and remember the days before hipster Brooklyn and the Disneyfication of Times Square. Native New Yorkers definitely have a certain nostalgia for when things were dirtier and more dangerous. We're proud that we survived. I think we did a good job capturing that.So far, the response has been really positive. We're happy that people are really getting a kick out it.
