"Bill Clinton Gave Permission To A Generation for Oral Sex," And Other Gems From Washington State's Gay Marriage Testimony
Breaking update: Chris Geidner at Metro Weekly reports that the Ninth Circuit will rule on Prop 8 tomorrow, which could possibly affect marriage laws through out the nation.
Washington State could pass a same-sex marriage bill as early as this week, though foes have vowed to trump it by gathering enough signatures to put the issue on November's ballot.
Until then, testimony is being taken. Jeremy Hooper at Good As You posted audio testimony of Cindy Zapotocky, the Executive Director of the Washington Conservative Coalition. Zapotocky is opposed to marriage equality although, as Hooper points out, her testimony is so bat-shit crazy you're not sure which side she's trying to help.
We've taken the liberty to transcribe what Zapotocky said because we believe it's important to clearly, articulately read the
logic language those against marriage equality are using in Washington right now. Here 's Zapotocky's testimony in its entirety (emphasis ours):
I am Cindy Zapotocky from Spokane, Washington. This is a government testimony which could affect whether LGBT citizens of Washington State will receive equal status under civil law, or not.
For us Christians, this is a Jonah moment. Like the the prophet in the Old Testament of the Bible, Jonah did not want to go to Nineveh to tell them that if they did not repent of their evil ways, God would destroy them.
Jonah didn't want to go, and neither do we, but here we are, because you have forced us to be here.
The truth is, if you vote for the bill before you, you will be endorsing unhealthy sexual practices that are an abomination before the Lord.
Just as President Bill Clinton gave permission to a generation for oral sex by his actions, as leaders of this state, you will be approving of homosexual sex by voting for this bill.
Don't do it, please.
The repercussions of such a vote will be catastrophic for our child and this state.
I am submitting into testimony four items:
A letter from 39 religious leaders in this nation asking you not to do it.
A writing from medical expert Dr. John R Diggs regarding the graphic dangers of gay type sexual practices, for homosexuals as well as heterosexuals.
I am also submitting an article from the Spokesman-Review regarding oral cancers being linked to the HPV epidemic.
Lastly, I am submitting into testimony the Book of Genesis from the Holy Bible, the truthful word of the God who created us and who is referenced in the Decleration of Independence of the United States of America. He had defined marriage as one man and one woman.
Is this the best they've got?!
