Megaupload's Kim Dotcom Remains Optimistic, Tells Reporters: 'We're Going to Win'
Megaupload's downfall is still being felt deeply in the file-sharing world, but its founder Kim Dotcom -- who has just been released on bail -- is not worried about the charges he faces, and is convinced that he and the site's co-founders will triumph in court.
Dotcom, who as part of his bail is not allowed to use the web, chatted telephonically with TorrentFreak about his recent experiences.
He told the website: "We're going for this and we're confident we're going to win."
Dotcom told TorrentFreak that he is holding up well after his stint in jail, and is taking the time to catch up with his wife and kids.
"You should have been here, it was amazing, it was like a war zone. Armed police everywhere....two helicopters," he told the website, referring to the anti-terror squad that busted him. "The New Zealand authorities certainly put on a show for the FBI."
Though Dotcom has lost his businesses and millions in assets -- and faces extradition to the U.S. along with other Megaupload top brass -- he thinks that his case is solid.
Dotcom told TorrentFreak that his biz did not break any laws, and was set up according to his lawyers' advice so as to remain legal.
He said: "[The heavy handedness] went way too far, it was out of all proportion. We feel that the action taken against us was political."
