Mitt Romney Wins Nevada Caucuses; Giants To Play In The Super Bowl Today; Russia And China Put Stop To U.N. Syria Resolution

Mitt Romney won the Nevada caucuses Saturday night. As of 9:20 a.m. with 71 percent reporting, Romney had 47.6 percent of the vote. Newt Gingrich trailed him with 22.7 percent. "This is not the first time you gave me your vote of confidence, and this time I'm going to take it to the White House," Romney said in his victory speech before launching into an attack on President Barack Obama. "Well, Mr. President," he said. "Nevada has had enough of your kind of help." The results leave Gingrich hanging onto the race by what seems to be a thinning thread. [NYT, CNN]

We said this yesterday, but we'll say it again today: today's the Super Bowl. The New York Giants are playing the New England Patriots. It takes place in Indianapolis and starts at 6:30 p.m. [NFL]

Russia and China blocked a U.N. Security Council resolution Saturday to stop ongoing violence in Syria. According to the New York Times, Russia and China both vetoed because the resolution "unfairly blamed only the Syrian government for the violence." Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in Munich: "To block this resolution is to bear responsibility for the horrors that are occurring on the ground in Syria." [CNN, NYT]

New news in the case of Ramarley Graham, the unarmed Bronx teen that was killed by a police officer Thursday. The New York Daily News reports that Graham's grandmother was held by police for seven hours following her grandson's death and was "denied access to her heart medication." In the wake of the killing, some big names are stepping in to financially help the family. Rev. Al Sharpton raised money Saturday to help pay for Graham's funeral and burial and his grandfather's trip from Jamaica to New York. Singer Roberta Flack gave $500. Meanwhile, surveillance video showing the pursuit that led officers to Graham's home where he was shot. [NYDN, NY1]

The smoking area outside a rave at the Slave Theater in Brooklyn collapsed Saturday night, prompting people to fall 10-feet into a cellar. [NYP]
