Republicans Might Think that Rick Santorum Is 'Mr. Right,' Challenging Mitt Romney's Lead

Rick Santorum, whose last name has come to popularly mean "the frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex," has emerged as top contender in the Republican field -- beating rival Mitt Romney in a national poll.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Santorum appears to have overtaken Romney among Republican voters -- 30-27 percent in a CBS News/New York Times poll.

Santorum's recent surge coincides with several unexpected primary victories.

Santorum just swept primaries in Missouri, Colorado, and Minnesota.

And while another new poll cited by the L.A. Times suggests that Romney might have a 32-31 percent lead over Santorum, others indicate that the candidates are outright tied, leaving the newspaper to wonder: "Has the G.O.P base found its Mr. Right"

Runnin' Scared won't say whether Santorum, ostensibly the most socially conservative candidate, would be Mr. Wrong for the country.

Indeed, it seems like his statements -- that rape babies are a gift from god, and that women in combat would cause emotional problems -- kinda speak for themselves.
