Queens County District Attorney Richard Brown promises "lengthy terms in prison" if the six suspects in the rape of a 15-year-old girl are convicted.
Six people have been indicted in connection with the rape, kidnapping, and torture of a 15-year-old girl who was snatched off a Brooklyn street corner last month.

The story, as told by Queens County District Attorney Richard Brown, is pretty horrific -- the girl was drugged, gang raped, and pimped out to several men over the course of about five days.

Brown says the victim and a friend were picked up in a vehicle on Jerome Street in Brooklyn by defendant Junior Goldring, 23, and taken to house on 101st Avenue in Ozone Park.

Once at the home, the girl was introduced to two other suspects in the case, Gary Council, 22, Roy McMillan, 24 -- and that's when things took a turn for the worse.

After meeting Council and McMillan, the victim attempted to leave the home. Council, however, wasn't having it -- he allegedly grabbed her by the arm and told her "you're not going anywhere. You are going to stay here and make my money."

Council then introduced the girl to suspect number three, 21-year-old Andrea Furlonge, telling Furlonge that the victim was "the new girl" who "was going to make a lot of money." Authorities say he then told Furlonge to take the victim and "do what she had to do."

"What she had to do," apparently, was pimp the girl out to various men.

Furlonge took nude photos of the girl and posted them in the "adult escort" section on the website Backpage.com (full disclosure: Backpage.com is owned by Village Voice Media, the parent company of the Village Voice. For the truth about Backpage.com -- and underage sex trafficking -- click here).

For the next five days, the girl had sex with numerous men inside the home where she was being held captive.

When the victim would cry, or ask to leave, Furlonge allegedly told her to knock it off or Council would get violent.

At one point, when the victim attempted to take a shower, authorities say Council went into the bathroom, grabbed her by the hair, and told her to "get back down stairs and make [my] money."

One of the more sickening aspects of the ordeal happened on February 8, when authorities say Council and suspect four, 21-year-old Omari Millington, forced the girl to take two ecstasy pills. She was then tied up and sodomized by Council, Millington, Goldring, and suspect number five, 22-year-old Renardo Williams, authorities say.

The victim escaped on February 12, when Council told her to go to a nearby store to get him something. Rather than follow Council's orders, the girl ran away and didn't return.

Council's been indicted on several counts of multiple crimes, including kidnapping, rape, first-and-third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and sex trafficking.

The other suspects each are charged with similar crimes.

All five of the accused are expected to be arraigned later today.

THINK ABOUT THIS:.....is this story all true?#1: the 15yr old girl runs away fr home and is walking down jerome st with her friend.where was she btwn the time she ran away and the kidnapping?#2: the friend gets into a strange car with her and get taken to ozone pk.#3: she and her friend wants to leave and a guy grabs her only and forces her to stay.where is her friend in this whole thing and why she never reported her kidnapped?#4: they say the victim was snatched off a street corner in bklyn.if that were true, that means that her friend had to get snatched too.#5: the accused female posted up pics of the victim and herself on the website.did anyone see the pics that were on the website of the victim?

Why do people stretch the truth?

all im saying is some things dont add up. i feel bad for the girl but hopefully she isnt stretching the truth. i did my research on this case and i heard many different stories and articles. hopefully the girl didnt run away and volunteer herself to be prostituted. there are alot of young girls that volunteer themselves until they get caught!

The dishonesty of the Village Voice in burying their owninvolvement in the matter with a one line statement, "full disclosure:Backpage.com is owned by Village Voice Media, the parent company of the VillageVoice. For the truth about Backpage.com -- and underage sex trafficking --click here" is nothing short of a cover up for the real business of theVoice - which is sexual slavery and child prostitution.

Can you imagine living a life where in order to make a living and to keep feeding the Village Voice machine that you have to put girls in actual physical danger?  Actual life threatening situations?  That, my friends, shows you what kind of friends we have here at the Village Voice.  The kind that would shoot you in the back of the head if they were in the same foxhole as you - if they could make a buck off it.

When will Villiage Voice stop allowing underage girls to be sold on their backpage?? Clearly we live in a messed up world! Putting an end to Villiage Voice's Backpage is one very SIMPLE, EASY way to start fixing things!!

Full disclosure: Village Voice sells prostitution ads and promotes backpage on the bottom of their homepage.  Village Voice - you can't distance yourselves from the harm you are doing to society.  Really truly disgusting.

Here we go...You do realize that this is a story about a guy who sodomized a 15-year-old girl he picked up off the street, right? And you're more disgusted with a company that operates a website that hosts classified ads. Just thought I'd point that out.

Just thought I'd point out to you Mr. King that this "classified ad" business aka "prostitution ad" business contributed to the crime of sodomy or perhaps you didn't catch that.  Perhaps you out to google village voice pimps Mr. King

The sodomizing's part of it, yeah, but there's also the forced prostitution, which was committed with tools provided by a Village Voice Media company. I haven't really used Backpage.com, I'm assuming it's free to register and post in, so I don't suppose there's really a way to "give up" whatever revenue VVM indirectly made off of child rape.

The thing is, though, that as brave as the Voice often is in its investigative reporting, the staunch editorial stance it takes against "child trafficking alarmism" that threatens a connected business venture constitutes an apparent conflict of interest to everyone, it seems, except Village Voice employees. The ethics of it are incredibly queasy, but it's also understandable - with the media industry in such a sorry state of course VVM would indulge in a bit of NIMBYism and adopt an uncharacteristically laissez-faire attitude toward a practice that makes it no small amount of money. It's no different than if, say, Wall Street Journal editors hold stake in Goldman Sachs while maintaining a consistent editorial policy of financial deregulation.

I mean, you can claim that there's no conflict of interest, but the honest ethicist acknowledges that the distinct appearance of one is to be treated no differently from a real one. Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc. The paper's editors should have exercised good judgment and kept their goddamn mouths shut about it, let VVM defend Backpage.com through other channels, but instead they brought the integrity of the Voice into question by white knighting grey market businesses they have direct financial ties to. If the editors had held to their ethics, all that this story would have featured would be the full disclosure that VVM owns Backpage.com, but instead we get that AND a link to a spirited defense of the site that is really sickening when placed right in the middle of an ostensibly journalistic article about how a child was pimped out through it. It smacks of "we acknowledge that we profited from these acts, but we have a right to".

I'm appalled to see the cavalier way this article addresses the fact that a website owned by Village Voice Media was used to sex traffick a drugged and raped teenager. Village Voice is no longer a trusted source for me.

Dear Mr. Larkin and Village Voice Media Board of Directors:We are experts in the anti-human trafficking field who for yearshave been on the front lines working directly with victims, providing clinical and social services, studying and researching trafficking, and developing and advocating for prevention policies. We stand together asking you to protect women and girls from others’ commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking of them by immediately and permanently shutting down the entire Adult section of your subsidiary’s website, Backpage.com.We stand with Groundswell, Auburn Theological Seminary, and the 36 moral and religious leaders of many creeds and backgrounds who have asked you to commit to running your business without compromising the lives of our nation’s young girls and boys, [1] and adult women.

We stand with the 21 states’ Attorneys General,[2] including then-Attorney General Richard Blumenthal who in September 2010 urged you to immediately close your Adult section, noting that “Adult services sections arelittle more than online brothels, enabling human trafficking and sexual exploitation of women and children.”[3]

We stand with the 51 Attorneys General from throughout the United States who in August 2011 wrote in a letter to Backpage.com – “We are increasingly concerned about human trafficking, especially the trafficking of minors.

Backpage.com is a hub for such activity.” – and have demanded that you eliminate all of your Adult ads.[4]

We also stand with those law enforcement officials who disagree with your approach of preventing others’ use of your website to traffic women and minors, making such statements as: “Rescuing children from being sexually exploited is a top priority for our police department, but we can never get ahead of this crime while a companylike Backpage.com profits from the sexual exploitation of children and uses their newsrooms to minimize the extent of the issue.” [5]

Backpage.com officials have readily acknowledged that sex ads of minors placed by adults can appear on your website. According to the Attorneys General’s letter, “In a
