Ron Paul Has Been Abandoned!

256px-Ron_paul.jpg
Ron Paul is a lonely, lonely man. At least when it comes to the media.

Politico reports that NBC, the last network to keep an embedded reporter on the Texas gyno/congressman's campaign trail, has decided to remove the journalist from this post. So nobody is following him. How sad!

Now, you could make the case that Paul didn't really have the press corps entourage of Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum to begin with.

That said, coverage of the occasional Paul party or rally has still continued to drop off.

Even Fox News, which is pretty much a conservative mouthpiece, has backed away from the fringe libertarian.

"Meanwhile, outlets that have been providing frequent but not full coverage, including Fox News, have no intention of putting a reporter back out full-time," Politico notes.

"Paul doesn't have as many events right now as the other candidates in the race," Hunter Ryan, the politics editor at Fox News Channel, told the website. "He is focusing on certain states. I am planning on covering him... [and] a combination of embed and bureau resources will be used to cover Paul going forward."

Turns out, outlets appear disinterested in him because they think he's kinda insignificant, Politico notes. And they might be right.

From the Wall Street Journal's latest count, he has a measly 48 delegates and hasn't won a single primary or caucus contest. What this means? It's pretty damned unlikely he can muster the 1,144 votes necessary to nab the Republican nomination.

Dear Miss Victoria,Thank you for taking the time to try and cover the very real Ron Paul news blackout.  It is apparent that you have no horse in this race, for the GOP nomination, or how the nomination process actually works.  Just for your information no one really knows how many delegates any of the candidates currently hold.  This is because about half of the primaries and caucuses that were held have nothing to do with who gets those delegates.  These contests are for appearance and fundraising purposes only.  The numbers you see on the networks are (at best) a ruff guess.  States like Nevada are actually in the middle of electing the actual delegates right now.  As for Fox News, they never have covered the Paul  campaign and I would not expect them to start now.  I am a conservative, and Fox News is definitely not a conservative news outlet.  It is a neo conservative news outlet.  I can understand how someone who is not involved can confuse a platform of limited govt and balanced budgets with one of interventionist foreign policy and unfunded top down tax cuts.  After all, the word conservative is used in both.  You statement that "conservative mouthpiece, has backed away from the fringe Libertarian candidate."  is completely false.  Dr. Paul has won terms to Congress 7 times, each as a Republican.I understand that you may hold certain views and beliefs opposing Paul (or Republicans in general) but that is no excuse for being missinformed and making completely false statements.  Even if this is only an op-ed, some decency should be displayed.

You have every right to have and voice your opinion, this magazine has every right to print them. Although making false statements reflects poorly on you and this publication.

Thank you again and God bless Americarickybob

Yeah its pretty lonely being the only one who wants to try and change a system run by big corporations palling around with the government and the press trying to squeeze every last drop of hope out of a nation that once used to consider Liberty and the constitution as THE most important achievements of America.

Then of course you can always vote for one of the non "kooky" candidates that they always talk about on TV.

Seriously anyone who would vote for anyone other than Paul, has been so suckered by money they are are zombie-like traitors to the nation.

I am sure Obama's preference for Goldman Sachs appointees says nothing about his elect ability,

Wake up people you are being manipulated by Lobbyists.

This may be the last time you even get to see a candidate that is incorruptible.

You don't like his conservative values?

Well he is the only one who won't shove them down your throat because he knows what the constitution says and actually wants to abide by it.

Ron Paul consistently draws THOUSANDS to his rallies, and that is 'insignificant'. Mitt. Rick and Newt draw hundreds, and the corporate presstitute media calls that 'huge crowds' and a 'surge' in support! Absolutely NO coverage whatsoever to both the REAL surge in Ron Paul delegates being elected at local and state levels, nor the coordinated and vicious GOP Leadership-led attacks on democracy in these local and state caucuses! Duly elected delegates being shut out of being seated, slates of un-elected delegates being railroaded through on phony 'voice votes' with parliamentary points of order and even 'show of hands' or 'standing' votes being ignored. Caucuses being shut down by party leadership when they have shoved 'their ' delegates through- ignoring the obvious majority in attendance who supported the ELECTED candidates.

When did the GOP adopt Stalinist Politburo tactics in place of Representative democracy?

4-5k people showing up to rallies apparently was 'too boring' to cover...

Especially when Santorum is pulling maybe 400,  easier to interview all of them.

Ron Paul had over 5000 people at his rally in Illinois yesterday!  And the delegates on the media are projected not final and incorrect.  He won the straw vote in US Virgin Islands.  In a few states he won most of the delegates but no one wants to talk about that...

There's no reason to attach any significance to FNN's ignoring Ron Paul. They have abandoned the 'we report/you decide' commitment (if not the slogan), because they are deeply committed to Mitt Romney. This has to do with News Corp owing one to MR for his help with acquiring the WSJ--or so I hear. But it has nothing to do with Ron Paul's being newsworthy. In fact it is obvious that FNN, along with the other channels, are at pains to obscure him because he is a serious threat to their candidate. Paul's numbers grow exponentially the more people get to know him. Romney's, alas, do not. Obama's likewise.

I'll be the first to say that Ron Paul's isolationist foreign policy strategy would be disastrous, so he likely won't be our next President...but he's certainly struck a nerve with a lot of people, Tea Party and Occupy alike who are sick of corporate-owned politicians. And although he's a baptist, I'd love nothing more than for him to "come out" as an enlightened athiest. Whether driven by him or an heir, I'm hopeful this signals the death knell for the 2-party system.

5,000 attended the Ron Paul rally at the University of Illinois last night... yet barely any media mention it. Gingrich attracts a crowd of 70 and they are all over it!

Trusting the Wall street journal on delegate counts says alot.

You guys on the MSM are a bunch of self-referential lazy-asses. He should by now have at least 180: http://meta-global.blogspot.co...

Haven't you heard by the way, that we are now very likely to see a brokered convention with 4 candidates sticking it out.

What happens, the bound delegates that you have been so loosely counting will be free to vote anyway they want.

What will you do then when it turns out Ron Paul has 800+ delegates?

What will happen if Paul still does not get the nomination because of the GOP establishment (and you pressologists) and he turns to a third party bis likely to pull off voters both left and right?

Will you come back and say "you know maybe we should have given this guy a little more attention then dredging up newsletters from 25 years ago that he didn't even write."?

Maybe we are all being played and like the judge said that maybe it is all a show and we really just go thru the motions but in the end the people who will do anything have the system so rigged that their man will win.

When you think about, to spend a billion dollars on someone to put on a good show for the public is pocket change to the special interests. If you really think about it, there are hundreds of billionaires who could fund the whole show or oppose it thru a super pac. But they don't!

In the end the public gets exactly what the we are supposed to get and told they will get. Hello Hollywood! For about the cost to produce three good movies, they own the show and nobody is wiser. Once the system fails or we live under marshal law or a civil war breaks out to make a real change, the masses will finally figure it out.

Do you really trust the people counting the vote? 4000 Ron Paul supporters go to a caucus and only 2000 vote or 50 people were at at caucus and they end up with 79 votes! Really?

Dear Reporter, Ron Paul has proved to the masses that the main stream media and its idiot servants are shameless corrupt creatures serving the elitist agenda and their reports are useless. Who needs the Garbage from the elites - the corrupt press? No wonder people are sick of the media.

Please, let's all of us Ron Paul supporters encourage our people in these states to write in Ron Paul as President: Alabama, California, Delaware, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Nevada doesn't allow write in voting but I'm trying to get our legislators to change that.

IT'S ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL THAT RON PAUL IS OUR NEXT PRESIDENT OR AMERICA WILL CONTINUE OUR DOWNWARD SPIRAL TOWARD SOVIETIZATION.

Obama, Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich are all members of the Council On Foreign Relations - commonly referred to as America's shadow government - that's behind this sovietization. NONE OF THEM ARE REAL CONSERVATIVES. Learn about the CFR by visiting The John Birch Society - the barometer of WHAT'S REALLY CONSERVATIVE - at: http://jbs.org/.

Why should he get out?  He is drawing consistent crowds of 2500+ to his rally's.   He is getting Paul friendly people into local and state positions all over.  You can read about the fury building in the GOP because his caucus strategy is working and he's sending Paul friendly delegates to the convention in places he didn't win, sometimes the majority.    And that is what decides the nomination not the straw polls.  A brokered convention is looking likely and Paul could take it come second vote.  People can laugh all they want but this looks to be between Paul and Romney.  Reason being is that Santorum/Gingrich haven't taken enough delegates thus far, and are ineligible for too many to compete with Romney's lead over them.  They will have the choice of Paul because on top of delegates known, he is sending many Paul friendly delegates in addition to his loyal support.  Or Romney which they are trying to be the opposite of.

The funny thing is this is no secret and the campaign flat out said they would do this, but everyone laughed and tried to ignore the campaign.

Even now while it's taking place most have no clue which honestly is good for me because I support Dr Paul.

Real reason he is being ignored is he will actually throw a wrench in the government works because he isn't owned by the church or big business.  Ever notice all these anti liberty laws get passed in a heartbeat with overwhelming support from both sides, yet wedge issues never get resolved.  Both sides are the same and by giving this false illusion of choice they make sure nothing ever changes.  Both sides use him to bash the other, but never endorse him and beat him down any time he starts to gain momentum.  Isn't it curious nobody covered the recent Veteran march for Paul, even though everybody supports the troops?

Not Surprised

Umm he won the Virgin Islands caucus with 29% to Romneys 26%..??????? Are you doing your research?

I don't care how many delegates he has or has not, Politico! At the end of this fiasco of several months learning from you and from others that America's political system as as corrupted as the American Press, I will be there, by the side of that great man named Ron Paul, thanking him for his efforts and personal sacrifices, for his pure love for the American people.... I bet I will not be alone... HE WILL NOT BE ALONE, POLITICO!
