Mo' Money, No Problems: Kirsten Gillibrand's Loaded And Killin' It In the Polls

Dollar dollar bills, y'all.
There's bad news for Congressman Bob Turner, Manhattan attorney Wendy Long, and Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos: Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's campaign coffers are filling up quickly -- and her poll numbers are the best they've ever been.

Turner, Long, and Maragos are squaring off to see which of the three will be Gillibrand's Republican challenger in this year's Senate race. Regardless of who wins the hearts of New York's GOP, they'll have some work to do to catch up with Gillibrand.

Gillibrand's campaign announced today that when she submits her next report to the Federal Election Commission, she will have about $9.1 million in cash on had, and a total of $11.7 raised.

According to her campaign, the senator raised $1.5 million this quarter alone.

Additionally, a recent Quinnipiac University poll shows that Gillibrand boasts a 60-percent approval rating. Pitted against each of her potential opponents in the general election, Gillibrand leads Turner 57 percent to 27 percent, Maragos by 57 percent to 23 percent and Long by 58 percent to 25 percent, according to the poll.

As you probably know, New York tends to vote Democratic, so the initial poll numbers of any of Gillibrand's potential GOP opponents are naturally going to be low. However, as the poll's director, Maurice Carroll notes, "Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's three opponents, so far, fall short of even the generic GOP vote."

He goes on to say "but it's seven long months until Election Day."

She's one of the best US Senators we have. New York is very lucky to have elected her. Send her back to Washington. More of her and less of the Mike Lees, Jim DeMints, and Wall $treet puppets like Chuckie Schumer.
