A 27-year-old Brooklyn man pleaded guilty this morning to charges that he's a terrorist -- well, a failed terrorist, anyway.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Agron Hasbajrami -- an Albanian native -- made arrangements to travel to Pakistan to join a "radical" jihadist fighting group last year. In doing so, Hasbajrami exchanged emails with a contact in Pakistan who told him the group he was trying to join was currently engaged in violent military operations and had killed American soldiers.

Hasbajrami told his Pakistani contact that he wanted to travel abroad and "marry with the girls in paradise" and that he wanted to die a martyr.

According to a federal indictment, Hasbajrami sent more than $1,000 to his terrorist pals in Pakistan. He explained in emails that he would have sent more but fundraising in America is hard when his fellow Muslims "hear it's for jihad."

In August of last year, Hasbajrami bought an airline ticket to travel to Turkey en route to Pakistan to receive terrorist training, but he canceled the ticket. About a month later, he bought another ticket to Turkey. He was arrested at John F. Kennedy Airport carrying a tent, books, and cold-weather gear on his way to terrorism school in Pakistan.

A search of Hasbajrami's home turned up a note saying "do not wait for invasion, the time is martyrdom time."

Hasbajrami pleaded guilty to providing material support to terrorists. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
