James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond, Ex Rap Mogul, Guilty of Narcotics Trafficking, Say Feds
Ex-Rap mogul James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond, 47, was found guilty today in Brooklyn for leading a drug gang that moved thousands of pounds of cocaine cross country, often in musical instrument cases, to the streets of Brooklyn and Queens. Among a slew of charges, Rosemond was convicted of trying to block a cocaine supplier from cooperating with federal authorities.
Rosemond has been described as a "notorious" figure in hip hop. He long denied any links to a feud that contributed to the murders of Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls. He was also associated with Sean Combs, Wyclef Jean, 50 Cent, the Game and boxing promoter Don King.
Rosemond was investigated but never charged in connection with the 2009 killing of Lowell Flecher, an associate of 50 Cent, in the Bronx.
Rosemond was convicted of shipping the drugs from Los Angeles to New York, and sending back the cash proceeds. As the feds closed in, he fled, sparking a two-month manhunt by the U.S. Marshals.
In all, 19 of Rosemond's associate have been convicted. He faces a life sentence.
