Plaza Hotel Rapist/Pal Of Saudi Prince Gets 10 Years In Prison. "Rape Cop" Michael Pena Will Die Behind Bars

Michael "Rape Cop" Pena as sentenced to 65 years to life longer than the pal of a Saudi prince who raped a woman at the Plaza Hotel in 2010.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office announced yesterday that a pal of a Saudi prince was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the 2010 rape of a bartender at the Plaza Hotel -- which is 65 years to life less than the sentence handed down to Michael "Rape Cop" Pena for a vicious sexual attack on a teacher in 2011.

On January 26, 2010, Mustapha Oanes, an Algerian member of a Saudi prince's "entourage," lured the bartender and her friend back to his hotel room at the Plaza with the promise of an expensive room service breakfast. However, rape was the only thing on the menu -- Oanes attacked the woman and forced her to have sex with him. He claims the sex was consensual.

Oanes was convicted in February of the top count of rape in the first degree, as well as charges of criminal sexual act in the first degree, sexual abuse in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and attempted sexual abuse.

Again, he was sentenced to only 10 years in prison.

"The defendant sexually assaulted a young woman who was in a helpless and vulnerable state, and today's sentence reflects the seriousness of that misconduct," Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance says. "I thank the victim for her bravery in coming forward."

As for the former officer, on August 19, a drunken Pena attacked the 25-year-old victim in the courtyard at an apartment building at 83 Park Terrace. Using his NYPD-issued pistol, Pena threatened the victim into going into the courtyard, where he sexually assaulted her repeatedly in broad daylight. He was caught at the scene -- still zipping up his pants. He was sentenced to 75 years to life in prison and won't even meet a parole board until he's more than 100 years old.

Pena was convicted of three counts of predatory sexual assault -- which is a more serious a crime than rape and calls for a stiffer sentence. However, a 65 years to life difference in sentences for two guys who did basically the same thing is pretty ridiculous -- especially considering Pena was sentenced to more time than most murderers.
