This Is A Video Of A Greek Politician Slapping A Woman In The Face On National Television

Ain't America great? The freedom, the liberty -- and the fact that our politicians don't typically slap women in the face on national television -- are just a few of the things that make us proud to be living in the U.S. of A.

The same cannot be said for Greece, where a member of the country's far-right-wing Golden Dawn party slapped a communist female politician in the face three times -- and that was only after he threw water in the face of another woman.

(See the video of the attack below)

The scene went down on a Greek political talk show this morning. The discussion -- according to translators for the Associated Press -- was about Greece's natural resources. It quickly shifted to an argument about the political history of the country, which includes a violent civil war between communists and far-right-wingers following World War II.

At one point, Golden Dawn party member Ilias Kasidiaris shouted "you old Commie" at 58-year-old Communist Party member Liana Kanelli. She responded by calling him a fascist.

Following the name-calling, "radical left-wing" Syriza party member Rena Dourou said there is a "crisis of democracy when people who will take the country back 500 years have got into the Greek parliament."

That was about all Kasidiaris could take -- he took a full glass of water and threw it in Douro's face from across the table. Then he stood up and slapped Kanelli three times.

According to the AP, a warrant has been issued for Kasidaiaris' arrest. Fox News reports that Kasidairis claims the incident didn't happen, and the video of the assault was doctored by the media -- which, obviously, is bullshit.

In America it is the other way round: Men are slapped in television and it is regarded funny. Women getting slapped is actually nicer to watch.

Omg!!!! I don't care what country you come from or how "common" that is.. you just don't hit a woman like that several times.. especially on television where it will go public!!!! And then deny it.. lame.

We're no better in America, where our presidents are murdered.  Check out a book called "JFK and the Unspeakable".

As a Greek, I am completely appalled by what happened today (as our the vast majority of Greeks.) I feel the need to point out, however, that the intro of this article indicates that this sort of thing is routine in Greece. The reason for the uproar is because this has never happened before. This may have never happened in the U.S. of A., but in Greece a woman's reproductive rights have never been an issue--something that we consider to be emblematic of a sort of "freedom" and "liberty." No?
