Upstate Cop Falls For NYPD Child Sex Sting; Sent Penis Pics To "14-Year-Old Girl" (Read: Undercover Cop)

If you're a middle-aged man having sexually charged conversations online with someone you believe to be a 14-year-old girl, we've got news for you: 14-year-old girls aren't interested in you, and chances are you're really talking to a cop looking to lure pedophiles into some sort of cyber pervert-trap.

If you're a cop, you should know this better than anyone -- "should" being the operative word.

Enter 53-year-old Patrick Rosney -- a sergeant with the Troy (right next to Albany) Police Department -- who was arrested today after allegedly sending pictures of his penis to someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl living in Queens. As is almost always the case, the person he actually sent the pictures to was an undercover cop.

But Rosney didn't just send cock shots to the girl/cop, prosecutors say he tried to arrange a meeting between himself and the girl, during which they would presumably have sex.

"It is disturbing to think that a police officer would conduct himself in such a manner as to send a person whom he believed to be an underaged female sexually explicit messages and web cam images of his genitals," Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says. 

Brown says Rosney first contacted the girl/cop on May 15, while using the screen name JoeJazzus1@aol.com. The messages, Brown says, were "sexual in nature" and he indicated that he wanted to meet the girl for sex on June 5.

Two days later, during another online conversation, Rosney allegedly told the girl/cop that they should go to Yahoo Messenger so he could use his webcam to send the girl pictures and videos, which he did...of his penis.

Rosney will be arraigned later today on one count each of first-degree attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors and attempted endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison, where -- as both a cop and alleged pedophile -- we're sure he'll make plenty of (ahem) friends.
