A Long Island man who murdered his family -- and then lived in their home with two of the bodies until his arrest -- was convicted last week of multiple counts of second-degree murder.

One of the victims, the brother of convicted killer Dario Ormejuste, was a corrections officer -- who apparently had a nicer bedroom than Ormejuste.

On June 21, 2010, Ormejuste shot his brother Guerby Ormejuste - a Rikers Island correction officer -- 10 times with his brother's service weapon in the home the brothers shared with their parents. Later that day, Ormejuste's father, Bob Ormejuste, met the business end of Guerby's.

Ormejuste then lived in the home with the bodies for two days until his arrest. When he was taken into custody, he was found outside of the home smoking a cigarette.

Following his arrest, Ormejuste told police he committed the murders because he was jealous of his brother's success -- and nicer bedroom.

Ormejuste's attorneys are appealing the conviction, claiming he lived in a different part of the house at the time of the murders, and had no idea his family had been killed.

Regardless, Ormejuste faces up to 25 years to life in prison when he's sentenced July 25.
