Why Won't Mitt Romney Release His Pre-2010 Tax Returns?

Romney-2012-Square-Depth-Black-Deploy.jpeg
Hey, Mitt:

We have to talk.

I know you have a lot going on, and I know you don't have much time for me anymore: after all, I'm just your lowly, pre-2010 tax returns, so why bother with me?

Maybe I should be used to this by now. You're always so swamped, Mitt, CEOing or saving the Olympics or running for president -- it's always something. It's always been something. And I'm OK with that. I'm OK with you ignoring me. Actually, I hate to admit that I have always kind of liked that about you, Mitt. You're a go-getter, you're doing things, and you need the space to do them. Sure, it hurt that you were too busy investing or restructuring or outsourcing or whatever to call or text all those years, but I understood your needs. I put them ahead of my own, and I have no regrets for doing so.

But here's what I'm not OK with: all of a sudden, when you're in the spotlight -- when it's your moment, Mitt -- you act like you're embarrassed by me.

A lot of people -- such as Barack Obama -- have suggested that you're going out of your way to hide me, and it hurts, Mitt. It hurts a lot.

When they first started talking about us, and you said nothing, I thought that you'd eventually share me with the world.

I thought: I can't be that bad, right?

I mean, how could I be any worse than the tax returns you did release?

After all, they do suggest you set up a Bermuda corporation as a secretive tax shelter and had numerous offshore accounts, according to Vanity Fair and The Associated Press .

And they do suggest you took major advantage of tax loopholes to pay a low overall tax rate -- less than 15 percent in taxes on $43 million in income.

So just tell me already, Mitt: How can the 2010 and estimated 2011 returns be so much better than me?

We had so much more time together!

Now, the Obama campaign is even saying that you might not have "paid any taxes at all" prior to 2010.

They're saying that nobody knows for sure because you won't release me, Mitt.

"What is Mitt Romney hiding?" they asked in the new ad, released this morning.

How do you think this makes me feel?

I mean, your dad started the tradition of releasing 12 years of returns, for goodness sakes.

What is it about me, Mitt, that even drives you against your family?

Anyway, I'm sure this is a lot harder for me to go through than you.

All I have is the past, Mitt, and even that seems increasingly uncertain.

Regretfully,

Your Pre-2010 Tax Returns

Why are all Obama records sealed and no one is demanding to see them?  Romney is successful and people can't stand it.  Obama is a fraud, covering up who he is, where he was born, what he did in his past, and one no cares.... With all his sealed records how do we know what all he is covering up?  Government is corupt!!  Get the tax returns of Nancy Poulosi, Harry Reed and all members of Congress that have been in office longer than 10 years.  If you want to find guilty people hold them all to the same standards.

Didn't believe this till I checked it out.  49% of American's do not pay any tax at all. That means that 51%, of poor and middle class people are supporting the wars, medical  and letting the rich continued getting richer.  Tax loop holes need to be closed and tax breaks need to make a u turn and let the poor and middle class have the breaks for a decade while the rich support us.  If you don't believe the 49%- do your homework

You don't know if he's done anything illegal or even shady because you can't see.  Obama made his money writing books not from salary.  You could argue that the onlyreason  his books were valuable was because he was/is a politician but it's still not salary.  Plus Mitt got $100,000 a year for doing nothing according to him.

Well he has submitted all required documents and done so pre deadline. Don't let your left leaning ways fool you and I think it's just curiosity on your behalf.  He's rich, WAAAY Rich, everyone knows it, but you want to know how rich, it doesn't matter.  He made is money doing things that American's frown upon now, but he has done nothing illegal and he also contributes over 10% of his Net to Chuch and Charity.  Obama is RICH by the way too and he got rich working for NON Profits and Government, how Non Profit are you if you can afford to pay out millions in salary to the executives.   You show me an honest politician and I'll show you a leprechaun, riding an unicorn, on his cell phone with God!

I worked on Wall Street for 20 years and I believe I know why Mitt Won;t release his pre 2010 returns. #1 Reason - Mitt may have made a fortune investing in Credit Default Swaps or other investments created by or sold by Bain that allowed him to benefit from the collapse of the American Housing Market. That would be game over. Can you imagine if Mitt Romney bet on the fall of the U.S. Economy and scored big. Game over forever for him. #2 Reason - Mitt's IRA grew from $400,000 to $100,000,000. The only way I can think of this happening in this period of time was if he got all the Hot Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in his account. Remember back in the DOT COM days when a stock would come public on at $10 a share and trade to $200 on the first day. Well that was how many got super rich, and yes you wanted it in your tax sheltered IRA. I would like to see the trades in his accounts although IRA accounts do not have to show trades on tax returns.  If Romney is such a good investor Obama should appoint him Treasury Secretary or Fed Reserve Chairman and let him fix the budget deficit the way he fixed his IRA. But I suppose he won't want to talk about that. #3 Reason - top level executives at Wall Street firms have always had special retirement accounts that the average workers could not participate in. At the firm I worked at they had a leveraged fund where they put up 10% and the firm loaned them 90% and invested the money in private deals. Not sure of why this is legal but it happens all over Wall Street and I assure other top executives do not want the release of Romeny's tax returns to shed light on this special perk they share. Mo' Money, Mo' Money for the 1%. I hope some reporter can ask Romney what the secret was to pumping up his IRA and can he do the same for the Social Security Trust fund... CwH

Romney is a rich pariah who simply can’t identify with ANY average American through his fog of lies and network of havened money.  He’ll only continue to get booed out of the room by every group of minority and middle class voters he comes across.  His religion and wealth is highly elitist and everyone in this country has had it with his kind.  We’re telling Mitt he can’t buy this election!  Read about the role of his money and his Magic Mormon Underwear are playing in the polls at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/05/mitt-romneys-magic-mormon-underwear.html

Obama has never had a real job, how can he identify with the average working/unemployed American.  People that want something for nothing identify with him. He wants people dependent on government and he wants the country to be dependent too.   Who's buying an Election, Obama has a billion dollars in campaign financing to run Romeny's name into the ground.  Campaigns are nasty and no truth will ever be heard for all the BS that is put out.  It's about tearing the other person down so you don't look as bad as you really are.
