Bath Salt Apocalypse: Naked Georgia Man Rambles About Biggie And Tupac Before Threatening To Eat Cop
As you may have guessed, the would-be cannibal was high on bath salts at the time.
Police in Gwinnett, Georgia, arrested 21-year-old Karl Laventure last month after responding to a call that a naked man holding a golf club was hysterically running around the Atlanta Golf Center.
When police tried to take Laventure into custody, he reportedly had "superhuman strength."
From local television station WSBTV:
[Police say] Laventure was running all around the range, through a nearby pond, half naked, out of his mind. [Officer Ross] Hancock [of the Gwinnett County Police Department] said his partner first pulled his pepper spray.
"He didn't even wipe his eyes, he just kept them open," Hancock said. That's when he said he pulled his Taser. He says Laventure went down, but got right back up again.
"We had to Tase him approximately five more times on scene to get him down. It took several officers to hold him down to get him cuffed," Hancock said.
"I'm'a eat you. Four Four. Oh God. Don't make me eat you," Laventure screamed on the video [shot by police].
"He was still talking gibberish, still cussing, still saying he wanted to eat us, eat other people," Hancock said.
"He evoked the words Tupac and Biggie, amongst others. Just crazy random things," Sgt. Rich Long of the Gwinnett County police said.
Laventure eventually calmed down while restrained and waiting for an ambulance. Once at a local hospital, though, he was back at it.
"He jumped on the floor, he caused the nurse to jump up on the chair. Several of the hospital security guards came in along with our other officers in the room," Hancock tells WSBTV.
According to police, Laventure was shot with the Taser a total of 14 times. Following his arrest, he admitted to police that he was high on bath salts at the time of the incident.
He was charged with misdemeanor offenses of disorderly conduct and obstruction.
As we've come to find out, synthetic drugs have a tendency to turn people into blood-thirsty maniacs.
Last week, we told you about a Texas man who ate his family's dog while high on synthetic marijuana.
Just a day earlier, we reported on a woman who tried to eat a cop while under the influence of bath salts.
A few weeks earlier, for the second time in less than a month, a Florida man -- 26-year-old Charles Baker -- was arrested for allegedly taking a bite out someone, also while under the influence of bath salts.
About two weeks before that, a Louisiana man also is suspected of being under the influence of bath salts when he gnawed the face of his neighbor.
And lest we forget the story that kicked off the "Zombie Apocalypse" craze -- Miami "zombie" Rudy Eugene, who was suspected to be under the influence of drugs at the time of a brutal cannibalistic attack that left his victim, Ronald Poppo, without a face. Eugene, it turns out, was sober at the time of the attack -- an autopsy revealed that the only thing in his system was marijuana.
Check back in a few days -- if history tells us anything, we'll have another story of some cannibalistic bath salt user for your (ahem) enjoyment.
