Go Get Your Free Vibrators, New York -- You Now Have Mike Bloomberg's Permission

Good news, ladies (and certain gentlemen): Mayor Mike Bloomberg has given the Trojan condom company the green light to give away 10,000 free vibrators on the streets of New York.

As we reported earlier, Bloomberg's office put the kibosh on Trojan's sex-toy promotion, citing the fact that the company hadn't obtained the proper permits as the reason.

The vibrator giveaway is now scheduled to resume at 5 p.m. today on the south side of 14th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues, and go until 7 p.m.

Yesterday, an estimated 400 women (and some men) lined up in front of several hot-dog-style vibrator carts across the city to claim their free sex toys -- that is, until the City shut them all down.
 
"This activity promoting Trojan products, which impeded pedestrian and street traffic, did not have a permit," Bloomberg's office says in a statement. "The production company affiliated with the event is currently in discussions with the Mayor's Office to hold a promotional event with proper permits at a later date."

Given the publicity generated by the City's decision to halt yesterday's giveaway, we can only assume there will be even longer lines today.

In other words, Trojan owes hizzoner a thank you -- morality/food/cigarette/soda/breast-milk cop Mike Bloomberg shutting down your vibrator giveaway: you can't buy that kind of publicity!
