Alex Meyer
Today we meet two New York Olympians who have made a huge splash in their young careers. While one has racked numerous accolades in his high school and collegiate career, the other is barely out of high school and already a bronze medal winner.

Name: Alex Meyer

Age: 24

Olympic Event: Swimming

Hometown: Ithaca, NY
Swimming is a part of the family lineage for Alex Meyer as both of his parents swam competitively in college. Meyer began his swimming career at age seven, and joined his high school varsity swim team as a seventh grader. During his junior and senior years of high school, he was a four-time Swimming All-American and a two-time Academic All-American, and also won back-to-back New York State Championships. Meyer went on to attend Harvard, where he attended the NCAA Division I Championships, and was the Harvard's Men Team co-captain during his senior year. Following his graduation from Harvard he won gold twice at the US Open Water Championships. Though he competed in the Olympic trials in 2008, this is Meyer's first-time at the Olympics. Meyer's big race will take place August 10th when he will swim for two hours on a rectangular course in London's Hyde Park.
