Team USA
Cullen Jones and Debbie Capozzi
We're keeping it aquatic for today's spotlight, which features New York Olympians in swimming and sailing. While one of these Olympians is a first-timer the other has already clinched a gold medal victory and made history in their event.

Name: Cullen Jones

Olympic Event:

Bronx, NY

Olympian Cullen Jones is on a mission to prove that minorities can swim. The North Carolina State University grad has made a name for himself in the sport while breaking many national records as the first African-American man to win gold in several events. Which include gold victories in the NCAA Championships, World University Games and the Pan Pacific Games. Most notably Jones won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing making him the second African-American male in history to do so. While he was only able to grab a silver medal after last Friday's individual Olympics event, Jones told reporters he was still happy with the win. When he isn't making history, Jones volunteers at swim organizations such as Make a Splash Foundation where he gives swimming lessons and does motivational speaking.
